 playing with color.....shades of gray

Annakmair's photography assignment #2 is all about color- "What color do you feel?" (aka How I can emphasize the subject/myself)

Lately I have been feeling.....white-ish.  Last night around dinnertime, , an approaching thunderstorm cast this great light outside, so I went out to take a look.  The rain shafts were gentle and gorgeous to me, and I loved all the shades of gray...and white.

There were lightning bolts coming out of the clouds..and I was trying to catch one, but didn't manage
to this time.  The storm was coming right at me up the street, and I had to pull myself away to go inside.  Getting a lightning shot is addictive for me- and I was thinking of just how perfect a shades a gray shot would look wiht a bright white lightning bolt cracking through it.   But my senses did come back, I remembered my metal tripod, and went inside.

After I went inside, we had a gentle rain and lots of thunder and lightning.  Bring on the rain!!!!!!

That's an amazing photo.  I love shades of gray and shades of white in a work of art- such subtle skill.

That's a great photo. And good luck with (safely!) eventually catching that elusive lightning with the lens!

I love it!  Your rose photos are still on my mind (along with a gazillion other things!).  I will post them on my site eventually.

Funny...someone (a mystic in India, I think)  predicted that there would be a big rain storm/flood/tsunami here in Oman.  It was supposed to happen yesterday.  Some people were getting freaked out, and it made front page of all the local (Gulf) newspapers.  Weird!  Of course nothing happened.  A few nice clouds in the sky (unusual for this time of year...when we just get blue skies and heat until winter).

So your photo speaks to me of what could have happened.  Somewhere!
