| | A photo a day: 4am weirdness My family has been enduring this summer season's round of colds, sinus infections, pink eye, etc. I had been tossing and turning since 3am this morning with a sore, tight throat and itchy, watery eyes. (hopefully the eye thing is purely psychological! )
So at 4am, I got up to make myself some tea for my throat. I lit a candle to brighten the kitchen up enough just to see what I was doing. As I was standing there, waiting for the water to boil, a weird photo idea emerged. So I took this long exposure photo of the candle on the stove:

I like how it turned out! The exposure was about 2 minutes long I would guess. This is the same candle moved around to different positions on the stove. I replaced the lens cap before moving the candle to the next position. To get the candle to look large in a few places, I zoomed in as far as I could with my 18-55 mm lens. Otherwise, I was zoomed out as far as I could to get the wide angle of the stove. Right before ending the photo and closing the shutter, I fired the burner.
For the shot, I had the camera on the tripod, set to manual mode, bulb setting, and used a cable release to hold the shutter down. ISO was at 100, aperture at f22.
Please join us in posting a photo every day during the month of July!!! It's never too late! Other photo -a-day participants:
