Life is BeautifulAnd now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

If my stress levels have seemed high recently, you can trust that there's been many, many reasons.

My principal finally ended the weeks of indecision with a decision.  The wrong one.  I honestly couldn't believe he could still make the wrong decision at this point.  To summarize, he is basically saying:

"Get rid of your sixth period class and start teaching the second period class.  I don't care that you were hired here specifically to lead the Math, Science, and Technology Magnet School.  I don't care if I already took away your other magnet class and sixth period is the only magnet class you have left.  I don't care that you're the current head of the magnet program and I'm giving your class to a teacher who's never taught in America, can barely speak English, and is already struggling.  I don't care that you've already taught this course for nearly two months and you're going to have to teach a brand-new class that's spent two months in a different system.  I don't care that taking away your morning prep period prevents you from doing any more classroom tours for the elementary teachers.  I don't care that taking away your morning prep period prevents you from teaching science fair strategies to the elementary teachers.  I don't care that you've given me at least ten other reasons why this schedule change is a bad idea.  I don't care that you're the only credentialed science teacher this school has had in five years.  I don't care that you're heading the Magnet School, the GATE program, the SDAIE program, the science fair, and the football team.  I don't care that you're the first one to get to school, the last to leave, the only one who lives in the kids' neighborhood, and the only White teacher the junior high has retained in four years.  I'm going to make this change, because I say so, and you have to listen to what I say."

There are some good charter schools around here.  Applications will be sent out shortly.

Any idea what God may be trying to teach through all of this?

thanks much to all of those who have expressed sympathy here and on email.  I have yet to speak to the principal again since his decision (he gets to school late, often after it starts, and leaves early). One parent has already called the school upset, and the sixth period class seems to be planning some form of protest or mutiny (I've been careful to not say a word about it to them, cause I definitely don't want to have anything to do with student demonstrations about my own role). We'll see how it plays out.
