I'd love to know how to handle myself in just such a case. I have a riot planned for next friday, and the information would be quite useful.

Yeah, while that would be handy information to have, I think I'm more interested in knowing how to incite a prison riot. or any kind of riot for that matter.

Well, I think that you would need a lot more power to incite it.  The whole thing happened when some Black P-Stones (Blood gang) killed an OG in 18th street (huge Latino gang) after a lot of other things had gone down.  Mexican Mafia (the overriding gang that 18th street and over south-side Latino gangs are all a part of) green-lighted attacks on P-Stones, and BPS greenlighted attacks on all south-side Latino gangs in return.  The first prison riot started when a P-Stone stabbed (non-fatally) an 18th street dude in one of the jails.

After that, you had intermittent riots all over for 2-3 weeks.  My boy down here claims that guards were purposely setting up situations where 20 or so Black inmates and 60 or so Latino inmates would be in the same building, because he said that the guards were mostly White or Latino and thereby siding with the Latinos.  In that situation fighting would start pretty fast, and all Black would line up with the P-Stones and all Whites and Latinos would line up with 18th street.  He claims that the Black inmates held their own because even though they were outnumbered, they had a distinct size advantage.

Some tips as far as handling yourself in such a situation:

   1) Staying out the action isn't necessarily safe.  It's like trying to avoid taking part in a football game - if you're on the field, you're gonna get hurt.  One guy was killed in the riot because he was confused and didn't know what to do.  Meanwhile, someone dropped a bedframe on his head.

   2) Sneaking knives out of the kitchen is very helpful.  You have to pass metal detectors when you leave kitchen duty, but you can avoid those by suddenly getting violently ill while working, thereby allowing you to get rushed out on a stretcher and bypass security so the knife in your pants doesn't get detected.  He claims that Latino inmates were disproportionally able to do this because they were given kitchen duty much more often, because of their favor with the guards.

   3) Many of these riots (including the one my friend was in) were in dorm-style buildings.  If you're outnumbered, wait at the end of a hallway.  Spread vasoline on the ground in front of you.  Guys will come running at you and slip.  You can then punch them in the face as they fall or kick them while they're on the ground.

That is absolutely fascinating.

LOLOLOL Jon! It's good to know that you have "what if we are invaded" neurosis. I think we all have some kind of weird paranoia like that. I saw Red Dawn too. Like a billion times. Those high school kids seemed so old back then. My brothers were obsessed with it...that and Commando.
