  • General Stuff

I've been absent from Xanga for a while, somewhat unintentionally. I guess I've just been busy, though in truth, I sometimes have a hard time following up posts that I'm particularly pleased with, because I don't know how to compete, so to speak. So that's probably part of it as well.

I've sort of given up on that concept - beating out my previous entry. I figure it sort of defeats the purpose of blogging if I don't do it because I'm afraid it won't be 'good enough.'

This post is all about me. Nothing profound, or probably even very interesting. Just an update on general stuff.

I've just finished reading (listening to) Wicked, by Gregory Maguire. The book is exceedingly different from the musical, which I saw a number of years ago in Chicago. I was surprised, but not disappointed. Maguire is an excellent writer, and has got some incredible imagery going on during this book. I was extremely impressed, and I'd definitely recommend the book. It's not really for the faint of heart, though. Not that it's really scary or anything, but it's definitely... out there. There's a lot of raw sexual undertone, as well as a general darkness that you wouldn't guess from seeing "The Wizard of Oz," which is nothing like this story. It is really incredible, though.

I'm really sort of tired at the moment, so writing isn't going quite as smoothly as it generally does. It feels like this post is sort of word. word. word. word. Not much else. I'm going to make myself post it anyway, though.
I have a rather large paper due tonight. I take classes online, so my homework is due by midnight (Arizona time) on various days of the week. I'm supposed to be writing about the history of the lives of Jesus and Muhammad... but I don't want to. It's not so much that I'm putting off homework or convincing myself to do it... it's just that I have no desire to work on this assignment. The concept is completely foreign to me, and I can't even imagine beginning it. I'm sure I will, as I'd imagine it will be worth quite a few points, but... I'm just not feeling it at the moment.

Toby and Lily are getting fixed and front declawed this Wednesday. In addition to that, they'll be getting exams, shots, and general tests done... so I'll be out about $500. Yeah. Not exceptionally excited to pay that bill. But I am really excited to get their front claws removed. I know it's cruel and painful and I'm a horrible person, etc. But seriously, I am so amazingly tired of having my carpet, couch, bed, bedclothes, and shoes shredded. I can't even get Toby to hold still to clip his little nails, so I've just been waiting for this day for quite a while.

Okay. So this is totally rambling and stupid and blah, but I'm done and now you know what's happening. I could probably tell you what's been happening lately, but there's really nothing all that exciting to report.

Yeah. That's all I've got for now.

    Adios.

Just saying 'hey' and that it's good to see you posting.  I'm totally tired and the words for decent comments aren't coming.

    You're awesome!

Well, sometimes you just feel down. That's how life is, it can make you super sad or okay or really happy. Thanks for posting even when you don't feel all that well :)

I like posts like this.  And Wicked is an amazing book.  Have you seen there's a sequel called Son of a Witch.  I hear that one's even more out there.

Joining the bandwagon to say I'm happy to see you.  I hate when I write a decent post, because I feel pressure to do something equally thought provoking on the next one.  But in reality, we all just love to hear how you are doing and want to ride your train of thought.
