| well, it's been awhile since i've written here (or since i've logged into xanga at all)! and with a busy week and a half of school left, i'm not sure why i chose now to write, but here i am! so, junior year has been pretty busy, challenging, and fun in many ways! i'm really glad that break's coming up, so i'll finally really get a chance to rest and think about all that's gone on this quarter!!
my classes have been really good, and i've learned a lot in all of them. pretty cool when school works out that way =) i was late to my class this morning though :/ it was only like 5 minutes, but one thing i've noticed about this quarter is that my punctuality has definitely been diminishing. I used to be really early to everything. just from habit, because my mom's always been the kind of person who gets places 10 minutes early. and i remember that it used to bug me when people here were always late to things... but slowly i've adopted the mindset that 8:00 really means 8:10 or 8:15, which might work out with meetings or concerts or presentations, but not so well with small, 10-person classes. anyways, i've also been self-conscious because i feel like i've turned into the person who's always late to class and it always makes me feel awkward to walk into class and have people look at me. it's like a walk of shame to my seat
other exciting news includes... -my new flute!!! so, yay! i got a new flute a few weeks ago. it was a long process of finding some to try out, trying them out, deciding which one to get, then finding one with the specs that i wanted. but it finally came, and it's wonderful =) i think after so many years of playing my old flute (and all those years of playing in general), it felt so great to have that "rewarded" in a sense with a brand new, beautiful-sounding instrument. plus, i'm just that much more motivated to practice now. -i'm currently considering the idea of going abroad to Oxford in the spring. I've heard so much about it from denise, who's there now, and it just sounds incredible. i love travelling and exploring new places (and yes, even being really touristy sometimes), so it seems like the natural choice to jump on this opportunity.. but i'm just not sure if i'll want to leave Stanford and all the great things and people here for a quarter (especially at the end of the school year)
a note on structure- being really structured and disciplined about everything you do makes life less stressful, and makes you feel better about yourself in terms of getting work done. it's such a great feeling to go to bed with everything checked off that "to-do" list, and with a plan for having another great day the next day. you just sleep better that way too =p of course, it's easier said than done (with all those great things out there that can distract you or get in the way of the plan), AND you can't just stick to your schedule all the time (and miss out on the spontaneous, fun things in life), but still i've found that having this mindset is pretty helpful
and, speaking of structure, i guess it's time to get back to work. more later =) good luck with finals!!
| Summer is going by much too quickly.. but tomorow is gonna be awesome! going back to marietta and harry potter 7!! can't wait- i am so excited =) i'll be there from friday through monday morning, so let me know if you will be too!
other than that, summer has been pretty good so far. nothing too exciting, but not boring or anything. i'm really enjoying my internship, and resting/having fun on the weekends is good too. i've been trying to work on my scrapbook, but i'm having trouble being creative or productive on it. one 'accomplishment' has been getting through 4 and a half seasons of buffy the vampire slayer (we're in the middle of season 5 now). you know, sometimes i look at myself and think, wow i haven't changed at all since high school. scrapbooking and buffy are still two of my favorite hobbies :)

| after helping my friend with her french homework this week, i realized that i kind of miss taking and learning french :( and what's sadder is how much i've forgotten in the past two years. je dois pratiquer le francais plus souvent..
my current favorite song: mrs. potter's lullaby, by the counting crows. listen to it, and tell me what you think.
i just re-read a note that denise wrote me on may 13, 2005. something about how we were graduating in a week. oh, how far we've come. so much has changed, but a lot has stayed the same too. denise-- a true constant in my life =)
eight days until summer. tomorrow's the last day of classes. where did the year go?
| hmm.. why do i always come here at the worst times? it's about 4 in the morning. i have a paper due tomorrow, but after that, i only have 3 papers and 2 finals until the end of the year.
i went to google today for dinner. one of my friends works there, and denise and another friend went to visit her. it was amazing. they have multiple cafeterias where you can eat for free, for breakfast, lunch, or dinner with really, really good food. they also have kitchen stations all over the place in all of the buildings. and, everything's google color coordinated, from the umbrellas on the buliding, to cones on the street.
my life is pretty boring and uneventful. maybe i'll make this a creative journal or something..
| i woke up at 7 today and went to a school in east palo alto with stanford in government to teach a class. we're writing letters to the congresswomen about important issues. does anyone who went to dickerson remember when we did that in 7th grade? i totally remember writing to johnny isakson about poverty. oh how time flies..
hope your lives are filled with more sleep and excitement than mine :)
