  • Apartment Hunting

No, not for me- I am coming home in August, don't worry.

But I was just curious about how much apartments in Tokyo cost. This was one of the cheapest I could find:

    22.11 square meters
    111,000 yen (US$900) per month

Reminds me of Bruce Willis' apartment in the 5th Element. Let's put it next to my current house, which I rent for 35,000 yen ($290US) per month:

I just realized that I will probably never be able to afford to live in Tokyo in my entire life.
    Meh.

I guess it's location location location!!!

An acquaintance's (Aussie friend) apartment cost 13 man or so a month in Gotanda. It was swish and secure. And bigger than that one above.

    He had a good job.

Another friend pays 8.5 man a month....in Saitama!

I like my 1 man a month rent...

OMG! Your house is amazing! I would kill for a garden. And I love the photos in the last entry!!

I'll be in a 1LDK, but for only $100 US a month ... So I guess I can go without the garden :)

I love how in the Tokyo apartment, you can take a shit and fry an egg on the stove at the same time.

Dude, you have a garage?  I would have killed for a garage in Obanazawa - not having to shovel 9 inches of snow off the car every morning...

I lived in a 1LDK in Tokyo for a while.  It's actually not that bad, especially if you work long enough hours that you're never there.  I paid a little less than that (10 man), and it was in Shitamachi.
