As much as I love Linux (and libertyware in general), I don't believe it will solve problems that are reducible to human nature. Malware is a product of human corruption, not MS. To be sure, our problems are as bad as they are because of Microsoft's near monopoly. Competition /can reduce/ the impact.
As the old saying goes: All software sucks, linux just sucks less.
