Ten Things To Know About Anime Cons

1) Do not pass out from a lack of food or water. Make sure you have plenty of snacks and water bottles! I'd recommend reading the Eating and Conventions thread currently in General Cosplay Chat for more info.

2) As tempting as it is to stay awake all night, don't. You'll be saddened at the end of the convention if you do. After-convention recovery is bad enough without horrible sleep shortage.

3) Budget, budget, budget! You won't know until you get at the convention what good stuff there will be to buy, but you need to set aside money each day to cover necessities like food and the like. Spending all your money on merchandise is bad.

4) Take one more outfit than there are days you're staying. That way, if something gets stained somehow, you won't have to rewear clothing that's dirty. And on that note...

5) Hygiene is more your friend at conventions than any other time. In the land of the unwashed, it is very important to preach the wonderfulness of being clean! Otakufunk is bad! Showers are good! XD

6) If you are planning on wearing the same cosplay outfit more than once, bring Febreze and an iron and some detergent, so you can wash the clothes that can be washed in the evening and let them dry overnight, and Febreze what you can't wash, and iron it so that it isn't wrinkly.

7) Know other people attending the convention and have a way to contact them in case of emergency.

8) Murphy's Law won't go away just because it's a convention. Plan for ways that everything could go wrong, and hopefully that'll keep any major disasters from happening.

9) The happier you keep the room service and hotel staff, the less likely you are to have surcharges tacked on your bill at the end.

10) Make sure to have lots of fun!
