  • BriBri had a birthday

My good friend Brian had his birthday on Wednesday, aka International Talk Like a Pirate Day.  I braided crap into his incredibly lustrous locks and he seemed to have a grand time buckling swashes and buccaneering.  He really is hilariously good at the pirate-speech thing.  I always run out of Arrrrrs and get self-conscious.

He turned the glorious age of 26, or 42 by a pirate's reckoning.  That is, 26 is 42 in a base 6 system.  Hilarity ensues.

We threw him a party at my new place, with Jello shots and cupcakes abounding.  It was a rollicking good time, especially when Ferg passed out at like 9pm after smashing his face into all the girl chests he could find.  He woke up some hours later and eventually made it home, so that was most excellent.  Lots of people showed up that I hadn't seen in a while, it was nice to have that.

Yeah, if this Xanga entry seems dry it's because I'm at work and exhausted.   Caught a lovely head cold from my new beau so I'm kind of foggy at the moment.

We had a good time, there was laughter and grins and that's what we needed.  Pictures will go up on Facebook sometime soonish :p

My only issue with the evening was a guy we met in Boulder (who seemed totally cool) and invited.  He showed up already completely plastered and proceeded to push his face waaaaaay too close to mine when he was talking to me.  And there were hands on my knee and one tried to go up my shirt.  I was definitely less than comfortable by the time Dan got back from Denver.

Oh yeah, Goodwin, Tony, Nick, and Dan left to longboard in the Tech center for a while.  Wish I could have gone but I had to stay and host, which kind of sucked.  Especially when Boulder-guy started his thing and I didn't have someone to blatantly hold on to.  I feel like I'm making too large of a deal out of it...but it really did bug the crap out of me.  Even if I wasn't already in a relationship, having a fun conversation with someone doesn't give them leave to start getting grabby.

Anyway, today should be a fun conglomeration of cleaning. sleeping, and homeworking.  I'll see if I can't post those pictures soon and stick the best ones here.

  • B Sides and Rarities

So yes, I'm home at my home but not for long. I'm movng out tomorrow.

But instead of feeling awesome and stoked, I feel drained. Tired and down. Maybe once I actually make the move I can ignore myself for a while. You know how it is. Certainly not the most responsible decision to make, but I think I need it just this once. Like Burger King and new shoes. Just this once.

My legs still ache from travelling yesterday... I was on the single most uncomfortable flight that I can remember. They were relatively smooth though and the pilot on the first jump was pretty amusing.

I'm moving my desk, one twin bed, and a short bookshelf aside from my clothes. Bah.

Anyway, I'm going to bed pretty early tonight because I've got to get an early start. Job post-interview/orientation thing in the morning.

Closing thoughts: Love love love. All you need is love.

  • Snafus

Well...we ran out of blue paint and the crackle shit didn't work.

    Ta-da!

I free-handed the Frappe trim in there though and it looks pretty cool.

    Navy Room

    Done:

    1.8 coats of navy paint
6" of Frappe border at top of walls
    Bed dressed
    Repaint doors Frappe
Headboard of cute fabric and curtain rod

    To-do:

Paint trim (molding and windows) in high gloss Frappe
last 0.2 coats of blue paint
    Stencil pattern in 6" border

    Grey Room

    Done:

    Paint walls Frappe
    Finish painting into corners
Move sewing desk into recessed area

    To-do:

Tape and paint irregular vertical stripes in high-gloss Frappe
Paint trim in white trim paint
    "Load the room"

Other than specifics for the rooms, we have to clean out the front room all over again, putting some things out on the curb and organizing storage in the closet.

After that... I'm officially a professional web programmer/developer.  This fall I'll be undertaking the website of the Alliance Insurance Group and kicking it's tail.  I program in standards compliant HTML/CSS and I'm learning Ruby for this project.  Pass my business card around, my rates are reasonable and I'm willing to work with you on prices.

I do web search optimization and can kick-start a hosting service for the right price.  Local businesses, good friends, general public, go no further.
