Free ebook Month = October

This past month I released my first work of science fiction. A 300 page novel titled Parabellum. That makes an even dozen I have self published…I think. Most of you don’t know that October is by far my most favorite month of the year. But I think October is the best month of the year for many reasons; Small game season Autumn Walktober Colors! Cool weather The smell Halloween These are just a few of the reasons that October is the best month of the year. I am sure that you can think up a few yourself! It is because October is the best month of the year that I normally offer “Free ebook Month” on DPebooks.com during this month. Many people support me all year long, for that I thank you. This month, I offer you any ebook you would like, free of charge, sent to your email box for your reading enjoyment. If you never tried to read an ebook before, what are you waiting for? You have nothing to lose with this offer. It will cost you nothing to read your first ebook. Who knows, you might love the experience and continue your reading endeavors online. What are some of the titles you can score for free? The Imperial Dread Sea Scrolls (Vol I., Vol II, Vol III.) Birthright…Slayer Vampire Nation Parabellum And for those of you who are doubters, always remember that you can read a PDF document at work and look busy! The boss can give you a look and you can say something witty like, “These procedure manuals are so dry!” That should put a smile on their face! You will be surprise how much more you can read by reading a PDF at work during slow periods. Yes, just another great way to claim your life back from the man. I would like to let you know that now is not the time to invest in a PDF reader. The only real reader in the market is Amazon’s Kindle and it is not yet debugged or priced competitively. As a matter of fact, the number of complaints and problems that exist with the device only makes the purchase a huge mistake. Ebooks are growing in popularity but they are not yet in vogue. Hold off on that ebook reader purchase until a serious model comes out for purchase. Are you an ebook reader? I would very much like to hear from you. I believe that I publish the best PDF documents on the market today, bar none. If you are a regular ebook reader, please request one of the ebooks on DPebooks.com for no other reason than to look at the layout, the content, and the overall look and feel. So, if you are a ebook aficionado, please take a moment or ten to drop me a line, and let me know what you think of my ebooks strengths and weaknesses as compared to those commercial ebooks you pay $21.95. Remember, October is the best month of the year. Email me today and ask for the title you want! Happy October!

Send every American a check for $250,000.00...

Operation rabbit hutch is complete. It is a tad larger than I originally expected but I do not think that Vorpal B. Rabbit will complain. I see many people around me upset, stressed and frustrated about the economy, money and jobs. I have always found this interesting that people continually live beyond their means and when the times get rough the world crumbles all around them. I would like to remind you of something very simple, yet often forgotten…no matter how bad you think you situation is always remember you can adapt and overcome. Positive motivated realistic goal setting will afford you the answer. Sort of like the lost pet that you find again. It can and will happen if you keep looking. Someone once told me that the universe wants you to succeed; all you have to do is keep your mind focused on the object or outcome you desire. In my own way, I must agree. How else did a kid who got the boot out of the house at 18, who was ADHD & LD manage to survive, move forward and accomplish more of my dreams than I can possible relate to you in a blog? All I did was never let my next goal slip from my mind, ever. No matter how silly, small or ludicrous, I kept my goal steadfast in my minds eye and I was rewarded. Keep the faith, keep your focus and most of all believe in you. How much energy is spent on the foolish things of life? Lets just say a person had lots of time, time enough to borrow someone’s box of lucky charms, carefully open the box, eat all the marshmallows, then seal the box up so well the owner never knew they stole his prized marshmallows. What if, the same group of people put that energy towards…doing good? What might the world be like should every foolish & devious act be turned around to a serious and kindly act? The question I have in my mind today is that of the quandary of our government. You see, thanks to several major events, continuous spending, and a very troubled world economy, they are now faced with giving private industry an unprecedented amount of money. (As a matter of fact, the US government could send every American a check for $250,000.00 US after taxes and spend the same amount of money as they are spending to bail out a few private corporations. ) The government of the United States of America is supposed to be a Democracy. It is supposed to be a democracy that operates independent of a free market economy. What happens when they hand over trillions of dollars to private industry thanks to greed within the private corporations? What does the democracy become? I am musing the implications of Congress handing private industry a huge check. At the point the US government becomes invested in the free market economy, what does it morph into? Does it become a socialist state? What form of government does it then become? Please feel free to weigh in with your thoughts. As always, your input is welcome here on the deck of the Destiny’s Quest. Sail on… sail on!!!

Everything I build gets bigger…

You would think that building a rabbit hutch would be easy. I spent all day yesterday building. I rarely build by blueprint. I build by idea. This might not be the best course of action considering the turnout of my current project.

It’s Sunday and I hurt. Every joint in my body is achy and my hands are shredded. One of the things I find frustrating is that I am almost always alone when taking on what I consider to be major projects. A minor project is running an extra light in your attic. A major project is building a 69-inch by 69-inch by 6-foot rabbit cage that includes hutch, porch, run, and second floor sun bathing deck. Working with such a large bulky item is not easy when you only have two hands. As a matter of fact, I find it nothing less than astounding that I was able to get the frame together and begin construction on my own.

I have come to the conclusion that working alone sucks.

Working construction of any type alone is just wrong.

Building a bunny hutch alone is super wrong!

I have 75% of it done. All I need now to is go to the store and get more wire and I will be good to go. The scraps of wire mesh I was able to bring together were not enough to cover the cage. I also need some tarpaper nails to put on the roofing material. Once I get the cage wrapped in wire and the roof on, I will need help moving the monstrosity into place. I had to build it close to the cottage porch because I needed to rest part of the hutch on the porch deck in order to build it. Now, I have to figure out how to move it all the way across the yard…did I mention that building a bunny hutch alone is very super wrong?

Sail on… sail on!!!

How many passwords do you have?

If you are anything like me, you spend more time clicking on “forgot Password” links than getting into the password protected areas of the websites you use. I have 17 passwords that I use frequently. Why so many? I am one of those people that has a unique hardened password for each website. While I have no doubt that a highly motivated individual with the right motivation, knowledge and program could hack into all of my accounts, I also know they are not going to score a treasure chest full of booty either if you get me drift.

At one time I had a naming convention that allowed me to remember the password to each site. However, if someone cracked one password; they then had them all. The reason why I use the little program called PassWordSafe is because I can’t remember my passwords. Not only will the program generate any kind of password you need (double click override policy and create your own parameters for password generation) but it will be encoded and on your desktop for you any time you need it. The trick? All you have to remember is one password and you have automatic access to all of your passwords.

I am not sure if you have need of such a program but believe it or not, it’s a free download at sourceforge.net. The exact url is: http://passwordsafe.sourceforge.net/

It is about a 20 minute download on dialup. Well worth the effort in my opinion.

Enjoy!

6ftHutch

I have to build a rabbit hutch.

I need six hinges.

Does anyone have six hinges just laying about that they don’t need?

I am very sure my attempt will NOT look like this!

Thanks…
