Okay, beyotches, I have 2000+ words of fiction, written for audience ages 6-9 (w/ help from mom/dad or teacher), and the magazine I had in mind is not accepting unsolicited work.  This piece is about two little boys spending the night together.  Guest has peanut allergy, host does not.  It's not high drama, don't worry.  You could say it "explains science through a conversational tone," I reckon, but it's not very technical.

Any suggestions?  Someplace to sell it?

Note:  writejaywrite says this is crap.  Anyone else have opinions?  I haven't even looked at the writer's market for years.

P.S.  I wrote that crap TODAY!  Can I get some almighty applause?

Sorry, no idea.  If I hear of a place I'll let you know though.

You have to determine which publishers accept unsolicited manuscripts. Or get yourself an agent.

Once I find a place that a. isn't erotica-based (as I doubt kids stories are, LOL) and b. doesn't look shady, I'll send a link you way....most of the for-pay sites I've seen, well, tend to rub me the wrong way.  I say, forget about marketing right now, and write your fingers (keys) off!!  You're a great writer, and I'd love to read what you've got!

I think you rock too, but that's beside the point.

Your husband has taken some very beautiful pictures.  I sometimes wonder if a fourth of the work of taking pictures is taking lots of them as often as you can, a fourth of it is very good (or even just good) editting skills, a fourth is planning out the pictures/trips/opportunities to get a picture (like staking out a beautiful scene for just the right time of day, or light, etc... stalking an animal and taking picture after picture until you happen, out of fifty pictures, to get that one perfect one), and the last fourth is just plain chance and luck.

I drool over the camera your husband must have.  If it's digital, that is.  I was anti-photography until digital cameras... now I cannot wait until one day, one day... I shall get my own DLS type camera- one of those nice ones that cost as much as a new computer.  *laughs*  I wish.

Finally, last and least...  I was reading some of your entries on maternity and life in general, and if you have a computer that can handle it, I highly recomend you try out the game Sims 2.  It certainly has a way of giving one a new perspective on life- even the more mundane tasks- and definitely a new one on parenting and child bearing.  *gets the chuckles*

Sincerely in Christ,

Patrick

PS- By "new perspective" I was not suggesting that your perspective was not right, moody, wrong, off kilter, insane, or any other such thing.  I just meant that the game has some very interesting ways of making me laugh at life in general.

If you could trim it to 2,000 words could you submit it to the Literary LEO contest?  $125 for 1st place.  Not much, but I'd take it!

I love the poem 'Finding Her Here' that you included on your margin.  I have a lot of those qualities, those physical attributes that the world seems to look down on.  I enjoy reading something that praises them.

Good luck on your job search!!

Good job on writing that ALL today!  I'm not the best resource for ideas on how to get published.  Sorry.

Check their definition of "unsolicited"
Sometimes it means "Don't send manuscripts/fully written stuff" -try sending a brief outline, like you gave here, AND point out you have a son with peanut allergy AND have serious knowledge on the subject...or try to talk to someone there... or try somewhere else...

*clap, clap, clap!*

-still ducking!
