| | I'm still pissed off about that travesty. If you watched what went on down there last year, if you watched just this special, and you turned around and went back to your cushy life and your consumeristic job and your "gotta get an XBox" life, what is up with that?
As far as I'm concerned, our world today is every bit as F'ed up as the world of the late 60s/early 70s. Instead of Vietnam we have Iraq. Instead of gunning down high-profile leaders of the civil rights movement, we just drowned out the living evidence in New Orleans of what generations of oppression can do to a segment of people. You don't have to believe in spiritual energy to recognize the big ole drain of it all around us.
Gas prices soar at the pump (although I'm thankful they're down right now), but what maybe should be quantified out there on the billboards is a financial scoreboard for spiritual premiums. Hope is in sore supply.
$5.00/dream $3.30/wishful thinking $7.54/quantifiable goal
C'mon, if you make these things impractical and expensive, we'll have to have some, huh?
Steve and I didn't raise a whole lot of money for Katrina relief, but we scraped together some.
I wish I could change myself, let alone the world. Changing the world is a big damned job and it's not for me.
But I can change me. Or, more accurately, I can let God change me. I can ask for knowledge of his will and the strength to carry it out. Think about that last sentence again. That's heavy.
What about you?
