Journaling

Here is an excerpt from the advertisement for the Journaling Class I teach:

OBJECTIVE

Keeping a journal is something you do for yourself because you value the process of your own growth and the unfolding of your life.  Journal writing is a tool for slowing the pace of your life. Your journal can antidote the stress and pressures of your daily life, the constant stream of demands that leave you feeling splintered and exhausted.  A journal can become your map of self-discovery as you travel your life path. It offers you the tools for reflection which allow you to assign your own meaning to the events and circumstances in your life.  It engages you in a conversation with yourself about the critical issues in your life. Together, these establish your personal authority and enhance your ability to process your life experiences in a supportive and positive manner.

You don’t have to be an accomplished or aspiring writer to benefit from journal writing.  It doesn’t matter if you can’t spell, have difficult handwriting to read, or can’t think of creative ways to say how you feel.   There are no special tools or techniques required.

I believe in that.  I believe that is journaling, in its essence.

If you are a lurker, new reader, or old reader...welcome to my journal.

I've been journaling since I was young & have accumulated about 5 volumes of hand written journals.  It's an amazing tool!

I have journaled since I was a kid, too.  Xanga has been a valuable tool for self-discovery and at the same time for connecting with other.  Lots of healing has happened here inthe last few years....truly it was a God thing when He pointed me this way

It has been a way I have "discovered" myself.  Sometimes I re-read what I have posted and find myself saying "Wow-- I wrote that ?

Many years ago, I migrated from OH to AZ. After settling in Phoenix, I experienced a bout with depression. I called it my "desert" experience. It was considered "situational depression" not caused by chemical imbalance. I started keeping a journal, writing everything out in a spiral binder notebook. I have several. I found out later that journaling is a therapeutic tool. After I was relieved from depression, I continued to journal for awhile as I had time.

I came across this quote I thought you'd appreciate:  "Never does the human soul appear so strong and noble as when it forgoes revenge and dares to forgive an injury." ~~E. H. Chapin
