| | Haven for leaving
I've been combatting an illness for a week or so now and I'm quite exhausted. You would imagine that when you get a vaccination for the flu, it's suppose to prevent you from getting sick in the first place. However, it seems that my job, or more like my work environment, is so saturated with germs that at least one staff person is sick at any time. I attribute it to the fact that we have a kitchen that's pretty disgusting and a bathroom that doesn't smells like that sterile bathroom scent. In most cases, I'm actually not allowed to come to work if there's the possibility of me spreading my germs and possibly making others sick. However, it's an extremely busy week for me and I have way too many things to get done before I can take a break. I hate being at work, then sneezing and coughing most of my day away. Oh well, I guess I can scapegoat some of it as work-related stress, which has a slow, debilitating effect on my health.
In other news, I got the go-ahead for my Philly trip in February. I'm diligently planning with the staff to get all the preparations necessary for a trip down there. There were several caveats to the whole thing, but, overall, I got my way since my supervisor wants to keep me happy. I still need to get some groundwork completed around the gathering and assembly of various individuals for the conference, but I think it'll be a good trip. No, there's no flying down there, at least not paid by my agency anyways. However, I might splurge on a plane ticket if I find myself too debilitated from work stress. Yes, February is a very busy month for me indeed. |
