This weather has been so erratic for the past few weeks. I guess I'm not longer subject to that illusion that winter is always cold and frigid. It seems so unnatural for November to have any temperature above 50F. Yeah, this administration says that there's no such thing as global warming, but I guess we can see and feel for ourselves that it's unseasonably warmer right now than in the past. If I remember correctly, last year's Thanksgiving was a chilly, frozen evening of a holiday. I can't stand the warmness, because it's aggrevating my allergies with the incessant sneezing and watery eyes. Luckily, there's no way that I can end up any worse than the way I'm feeling right now.
On a different note, I'm currently seeking new partners for a series of workshops that I'm hoping to present down in Philly. I used to revel in the perks of working with people from all corners of the country. However, I'm pretty much relegated to folks on the East Coast, because the West has cut off all communications with us. This is the political divide that we all tend not to want to acknowledge about our own community. The West Coast thinks we're jealous of them, because we don't have all the cute Asians roaming around. The East Coast purports that we're superior, since we deal with issues of racism and classism on a more regular and intensive level than Californians. Of course, this leaves out most of the Midwest, since the general assumption is that there are none in farm country (ahemm, who wants to counter that sentiment?). |
