Oh, deer!

Today I saw a deer snacking on some leaves about 10 feet from a relatively busy intersection near my apartment.  We’re not used to seeing deer in this part of the neighborhood, even though there are several woods and parks nearby.

The good news is that the rumbling of a motorcycle followed by a moving truck kept the deer away from the road.

This spotting occurred in daylight, and thus, no headlights.  Which means that even if the deer did get too close to traffic, at least it wouldn’t have suffered a clichéd demise.

I see a deer every once in a while close to the highway. So far he's been lucky too.

Happy  Birthday  Eff  : )

The figure could be worth $150 - $500, according to what I saw on G4 the other night.  I also had the Falcon, which was cool, but it wasn't the Death Star set.

Well, there goes the neighborhood. Before you know it hoof marks will be showing up all over. Keep tabs on your rye whiskey; they're partial to it. Also, now is a good time for a trail scat identification lesson. Not because of the deer exactly, but hey, it's just useful information. It's how I proved he neighbor boy'd been drinking.

Hope your weekend is lovely.

I don't guess a "Deer Crossing" sign would be much help, huh?

^ Punkconfusion is correct in her (his?) evaluation that yes, indeed, those fuckers ARE everywhere. I've taken to honking the horn when I see them on the side of the road. They're usually kind enough to stop eating and wave. Maybe you could get one of those clown horns and honk out the window at them. Ok, well, maybe not.

Well, there goes your opportunity to shine a flashlight at them to see if that works. May be just an urban legend.

ryc: Crappers! I kept mistakenly calling them the Rockies all weekend. I guess I figure it's baseball, not hockey, season ... which is un-Canadian of me, I know.

A snack. As though, it was just wandering by and thought... leaves. I feel like leaves right now.

Where we live, south of DC, there are tons of developments. And the developments are displacing all the wild life in the area. I'm not particularly on the humans side on this.
