| | My throat feels as if someone's skateboarded down it dragging a long line of razor fence behind them. At least today I've been awake and upright longer than I've been reclined and comatose.
We went to Snaps today for brunch. Nothing like Eggs Benedict with most excellent Hollandaise sauce. Top it off with two liters of fluid and you've got a meal fit for dragging me off my sick bed. Then we went into Middlebury for shopping and Dayquil. I met three fencing family members- it's time to go back.
My mother remembered my birthday this year and sent me a present. This has not happened in quite some time- so it's a pleasant surprise when it happens.
Otherwise, the birthday was spent sleeping and drinking fluids of a rehydrating sort and weaving day dreams about Big Kenny. Of Big& Rich. Obviously, a sign of recurrent febrile episodes.
I've been watching some Country Music Television. I must admit, the man leered quite nicely during the video of "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy." And while that did not make me swoon in fevered dream of cowboy encounters, little things have snuck in while being sucked into the country music media that have made him interesting to me. Picqued my curiosity, if you will.
He has "Love Everybody" written on the back of his guitar. Any bit of video shot around him- be it music or documentary for CMT shows a somewhat exuberant human being. The thing that really hooked my interest though, is the video,"Holy Water."
The introduction has John Rich, Big Kenny's muscial partner introducing Big Kenny's sister, Charlene, and saying this song was written for her and those like her. The music video has shots of Big Kenny sans his ever present sunglasses, looking his sister straight in the eye as he sings to her. She looks so totally delighted that her brother is doing this. He looks so purely loving of his sister, that I can't help but be curious of the rest of the man's story.
Fever dream fantasizing is always a nice way to pass time when recuperating from illness. My mind goes all sorts of places- Nashville, the Caymans, my education......
how did that bit of reality slip in? Blame it on the Nyquil.
In the meantime, the outdoors is gorgeous, so I'm out to play with my dog again.
Blessings abound |
