| | The house is cruelly quiet.
Not really, but I just love that sentence. BW, Dan and Ryder left about half an hour ago, as did Devout and her daughter who had stopped by to see BW. Devout and I crafted whilst the young people visited. She was working on a rug hooking and I was working a sweater I started for The Chief last year. It's a bit, bulky sweater that I'll probably finish in the next week if I give it a little time each evening.
The three air mattresses are standing on end in BF's room. He's coming with at least three friends next weekend, so I see no real need to deflate them. I'm looking forward to him being here. It'll be more vegetarian than this weekend was. I made a five pound pot roast last night with one dozen roast potatoes and three pounds of carrots to roast with them. The only thing left from the meal was two potatoes and an apple pie.
Most of the apple pie was consumed today. I made cheesy eggs with potatoes and onions for breakfast this morning along with an oven apple pancake. There's still half of the cake left, but that's ok. I can eat breakfast tomorrow.
I also sent them along with two quarts of pears in maple syrup I canned last fall and three dozen chocolate chip cookies, a gallon of cider and a gallon of spring water from down the road. And half of the apple pie and a pound of sharp cheddar cheese. That should do them the five hour ride to Purchase.
Beloved Firstborn: what would you like to eat next weekend?
So now it's the hum of the washer and the dryer tumbling as I clean up my chores from the weekend. The laundry is almost done for the week. The Chief will be home soon, so I'd best relish the quiet while I can. Besides, I think a fire on this wet and windy fall day is in order.
