A most excellent time  swimming in the river of the Middlebury Gorge today.

A little more than interesting:

Seeing a piece of the cement bridge on the river bed.  The days of swimming there until they have to replace the bridge are numbered.  Cement casement on mottled river stones emphasizes the point.

Oh, and yeah, I jumped in from the medium high point.  Haven't done that in a while.  It felt most excellent to let my body execute the dive, swim and eventually float down stream while watching hawks.

This is the gorge in winter.  The bridge is missing a chunk right in the middle.  Well, really, it's more like a flake.  I've jumped off the bridge once.  Most of the time it's been from the ledge to the right of the arc.  It's a long way down.  Long enough, anyway, for a mind that's afraid of heights and a body that likes to jump.

blessings abound

The jumping part scares me but the fall is totally thrilling. I used to do it when I was younger, just threw myself off the bridge over our lake, until I wasn't afraid of it any more. I did it at the lake when I was pregnant with Rachel (with the doc's ok, of course) and she's not afraid of anything. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
That's scary about the bridge missing chunks...
