      Le temps des conserves de haricots était à la fin d ' Août . La photo montre une partie des bocaux préparés pour l ' hiver.

      On the last week of August it was the canning of the beans . The picture shows a part of what has been prepared for the winter .

      En Septembre ce fut la ruée sur les pommiers . Janine utilisait un cueille fruit .

       In September it was the rush over the apple trees .Janine was using a picker of fruits .

      Et finalement on doit utiliser les grands moyens : l ' échelle double
     And finally we must use the extreme measures : using the double ladder .
 

                                           

                                                                                                                        

                                                               Nos  raisins sont placés au soleil pour gagner un peu de sucre .

                                                                                     Récemment Janine cueillit quelques coings pour la gelée 
                                                                                    Recently Janiine picked some quinces for jelly .

 Comme il  est agréable de contempler les fruits de la terre ..... et du travail de l ' homme et de la femme !

Nous avons séjourné 2 semaines en Août en Bourgogne du sud une région de l’ Est de la France , une région de petites montagnes et de vallées , de pâturages et de vignobles entre Charolles et Macon;
Il y a beaucoup de choses à relater mais pour commencer j’ ai pensé que vous aimeriez les châteaux de cette région qui a une ancienne et importante histoire . J’ ai choisi quelques châteaux parmi beaucoup d’ autres dans une zone de 30 km de diamètre seulement ..

We stayed 2 weeks in August in South Burgundy , region of East France in a area of small mountains .and valleys , meadows and vineyards between Charolles and Macon ..
There are many things to report but to start I have tought you would love seeing the castles of this area which has an important and ancient history . I have chosen some castles among many of them , in only a 30 km diameter area .

 

Au château de Drée situé à 20 km de Charolles , nous avons aimé la simplicité de son style du XVII sièccle et aussi ses jatdins à la Française et sa roseraie .
 Les deux photos ci -dessous le montent .

  At the castle of Dree located 20 km far drom Charolles we have liked the simplicity of its XVII th century style and also its gardens " à la française " ( geometrical ) and its rose garden
The two photos below show that .

 Le Château de Pierreclos a été construit aussi au XVIIème siècle mais sur des caves bien plus anciennes comme           l' indique le panneau .
 la poète Lamartine , l ' auteur de fameux poème " le lac " était très attiré par les habitants de ce château , d 'une façon amoureuse .
 Nous avons aussi aimé le toit en tuiles vernissées .du toit du chateau et des pavillons de l ' entrée ci dessous ( cliquez pour agrandir )
          The Castle of Pierreclos  has been buit in the XVII th century but on the foundations more ancient ( caves of the XIIth century as the pannel says ).
 The French poet Lamartine , author of the famous poem " the Lake " was lovingly attracted by an inhabitant of this castle . He was born in this area .    
We have also like the glazed tiles on the roof .of the castle and of the pavillonns of the gate below ( click to enlarge )          

              
le Château de Cormatin du début du XVII ème, très harmonieux ,a conservé ses appartement richemment décorés et meubles . Il est entouré de douves .
Le castle of Cormatin ( XVII sh century ) has harmonious lines and keep its rooms richly decorated and furnished of this time . It is surrounder by  moats

  Depuis le 1^er Septembre , Janine et moi avons rénové 5 pièces de la maison .Ces travaux avaient toujours été reportés mais cette fois ci nous avons pris 3 semaines pour travailler sans arrêter .
Pour être franc il reste peut – être encore une journée ou deux de travaux de finition çà et là mais enfin l’ essentiel est terminé . Ce travail physique intensif de rénovation nous a aussi revigoré . Bizarre , non ?
Nous sommes satisfaits du résultat
Voici quelques photos prises la semaine dernière par Janine . Elles montrent nos travaux " herculéens "

Since September 1, Janine and I have  renovated 5 rooms of the home .Those works  had always been postponed  but this time we took 3 weeks in a row  to work without stopping. To be frank there are  some little works to perfect here and they will need one or two days yet . But the main is made . This intensive physical job of renovation renovated us too .. Strange, no?  We are happy with the result.

 Here are below  some photos taken last week by Janine for the most of them .They show our “ Herculean” works  "

     Je portais de vieux vêtements que j ' utise depuis quelques années pour peindre . Janine a eu l 'idée " géniale " de me photographier .
  N ' ai je pas l ' air d ' une statue recouverte de fientes de mouettes ?

   I wore old clothes that I use for some years for the painting . Janine found " interesting " to picture me like that .
  Don' t I look like a statue covered of droppings of sea gulls ?

   Je suis heureux de retrouver mes amis de Xanga qui m’ ont manqué depuis deux mois en raison des vacances , des travaux dans le jardin puis dans la maison .

 Anyhow I am happy to find again  my friends of Xanga . I missed them  for two months including  vacation, works  in the garden then in the home. I
