hello everyone, am now in cybercafe...as i said in my earlier post, the computer peripherals here really lousyla...on taht day i complain about keyboard...today, their optical mouse oso got problem...can't believe these ppl...cheapskate...c'mon man, Malaysia 100X better man...fuiyoh patriotik gila...
i was reading the Metro newspaper today, and saw that Malaysia was ranked number 7 for the hottest tourist destinations...not bad hehe, but Singapore was much higher. number 1 i think????
so what did i do Thursday evening? hm...apart form relaxing while watching tv...when i was ironing my clothes, guess wat??? suddenly the iron rosak, i think the water must have leaked into the circuit and damaged it. the funny thing was, while oblivious to the fact that it was burning and smoke was coming out (i mistook the smoke for the water steam that normally comes out of the iron, despite the burning smell), and my white t-shirt that i was ironing turned brown-ish...so have to re-wash it, argh...first time spoil iron, hehe.
was supposed to revise law, but did not have the mood to do so, so i read Tax instead...watched Spiderman, at last!!!!!!!!!!!!! and not part 2, PART 1, yes i know wat u're gonna say, i'm very outdatedla, thisla thatla...wat to do...before this i watched spidermanla, not in cinema, on tv, but not the whole show...so now i am dying ot watch part 2.
regarding the problem with Natwest bank, let me explain :
over a silly matter, the problem is something like this :
in order to show evidence of residential address and that you actually live there (for them to verify your accomodation), i had to hand them a utility bill under my current landlord...so i handed them the bill, and the landlord is a chinese, his name is Su Lee (Su is the surname, Lee is the first name). but on the utility bill, it is written as Lee Su. please bear with the initial confusion.
secondly, the landlord has to write a letter to certify and prove that he has released me the utility bill. so he wrote the letter, but on his letter he wrote Su Lee. this was the problem, the bank said the names did not correspond and were not cohesive. i spent a long time explaining the way chinese names are written and their arrangements...although i know he should've underlined the name, but still, the bank should not make such a big fuss over a small issue! i provided a second utility bill with the name Mr Su on it"! doesn't that prove that Su is the surname??? anyway, i argued, and asked the woman to appeal to the manager for me. so far no news, so i hope my bank account will be fine by next Monday, if not i'm really gonna go mad.
New Problem : Royal Mail
i tell you, i thought POS Malaysia was bad...Royal Mail lagi terukla...
to cut a long story short, a Student Photocard i was supposed to receive (which i had paid £5 for) got lost somewhere, and now i have to reapply for my card and pay another sum of £5. apparently, i can claim a refund for the lost card, but the procedures are so lengthy that it makes £5 pounds not worth claiming. crazy organisation man...
just got some news from a friend that we'll be celebrating Mooncake festival here! that should be good. also found out that one of the friends i have made here won 1st prize in the whole world for Paper 3.3 Performance Management, and heard that this is not the first time she has won a prize under ACCA, really respect man...it's not easy to score high marks...and she got around 80 marks for that paper, so u can imagine how tough ACCA papers are. 80 is the highest mark in the whole world!!!
tonight need to revise some law...maybe read some stuff on the newspaper i bought just now called FInancial Times...really good resource to keep abreast with current developments and information in the business world.
so many plans...my friend has a coupon that will entitle the holder to get 2 tickets for a theatre show at the price of 1. Rod Stewart musical and Saturday night fever. not too sure about watching again, quite costly. might wanna save money to watch a soccer match instead. just found out that the new place i will be moving into in a few weeks time (Camberwell Green) ada badminton court and swimming pool...
what else? hm...oh yeah today's Law class wasn't so bad as i expected...usually i find law class boring but today managed to stay awake for most part of the class except towards the end.
man, i'm so hungry now, it is 630pm, i still have around 3 hours more till dinner!
oh yeah, will be buying some stuff from PC World store here...for those in Malaysia, u might think of PC World as a magazine, but they actually have a PC store here as well...what to do, here no Low Yatt, no Sungai Wang, no Petaling Street, no pirated stuff.
oklah, have typed a lot already...am now at cyber cafe so it is £1 per hour. if you think about that in RM terms, it is around RM6.81 as of today's exchange rate. you can check out exchange rates from http://www.xe.com/ucc , however bear in mind that forex rates might differ across banks and money changers. u know what money changers can be technically labelled as? ARBITRAGEURS...check that out...hehe.
okay, i said i was leaving. take care people. GOd bless...dun worry people, am still talking to God, am still relying on Him more than ever. |
