 DELTA SOFTLITE DIFFUSER UPDATE

It's moving along... now we will have FOUR different sizes to fit smoothly and snuggly on hundreds of different point and shoot cameras.  As soon as we have some room on the mold - this baby is going on the market!
It is unreal how much better photos look with the diffuser on...  just slip it on over the telephoto lens, and it gives you a pyramid grid which totally blows the light all over the place...
Today in Kelowna I was seeing how my prototype diffuser would fit on the new Canon SD550 or whatever it's called, and I sure piqued the curiousity of the sales staff there!  When I showed them photos of before/after, they went wow!
I did some before/after photos of them at the sales counter.  I may leave one there at the store (Futureshops in Kelowna) and see what the customers say.  Hey that's a good idea!  Anyway, here's before/after photos of the friendly sales staff !!!  Please let me know what you think of the amateur connection!  I think I will leave one at the store if they'll let me, and see what the consumers say...
Check out the before/after shots.... YAY!!!

for this to work well in a retail camera store location, especially if it's stuck in a mall, the sample photos will help. however, friendly, knowledgeable staff have always been our store's best sales booster. stick with a location that has staff who can not only show the samples but help explain the differences in aesthetics to the untrained (but still aware) eye. i've "sold" fellow camera store employees on the lightsphere after letting them test drive mine. good luck with the new products. eBu

Wow you do retail? Cool! I wish I had experience with counter retail. As we are starting to move into consumer products, this is a growth experience for me. I know the pro-market pretty well but the amateur market is a complete mystery.

So I value your comment. This is going to be a growth experience for me and I look forward to it.

I think the "pro-sumers" will really take hold of it with minor education, and the pros deffinetly. Thats an amazing shot gary it really softens up the light nicely. Now if only there was a way to bounce p/s flash lol. Are you still going to be on HSN - that would be a great avenue for this, as they really get into depth and detail about the products to sell sell sell.

Hey Gary, This is a great coincidence. I work in the camera department at a Best Buy store, and I have sent several people your way for the lightshere since I got mine. The Coincidence is that Future Shop is the Best Buy stores for Canada. I think with a little training the sales staff could easily sell the new deffuser. You might even try to get Best Buy and Future Shop to carry it as an exclusive product in the retail sector. They do a lot of exclusive products like some CD's and computer products. send me an email if have any questions and I'll try to get them answered.

I will email you when we decide to put it in stores! As for now, we're trying to handle being able to make enough parts.

I love this thing!  I can't wait to get one!! I like to consider myself a pro-sumer in terms of the gear I buy, and I have more photog training than the average "-sumer" but I think this will catch on with the "-sumer" segment up to a point.  I do technology consulting for a living and almost nightly my wife curses our computer(s) we have both windows and mac and despite how simple I think I make things for her.   Turns out that she ends up being a great barometer for usability of technology.  She probably wouldn't use a diffuser like this mostly because it would feel like a hassle.  I would use it constantly.  Nevertheless, I can't wait for it....is there any kind of wait list to be one of the first?
