WOW I THOUGHT WE DID GREAT WHEN WE GOT $35 MILLION

for Pictage, but we kind of wanted more. So when I found out that homeaway.com just raised $160,000,000 to purchase VRBO.COM - I was like... "jealous"?

If you go to vrbo.com - you'd probably think like I did - wow this site is so like, dumb looking does anybody even go here? But they have 64,700 vacation homes worldwide, each paying like $350/yr for advertising, that's $22M/year in revenues!

It was a 9-5 guy and his wife the nurse starting this very basic looking site to market their Breckenridge ski chalet. Then it kept growing and growing and now they're up to 44 employees and sold the sucker for well over $100 million bucks. Talk about luck!

What attracts returning users are not prettyness but usefulness of a website. Look at Yahoo, eBay and Google.

If a website only has great graphics and flashes but no real substance. Visitor may say "wow, this is cool." but will never return again. Just my take.

Anyway, great story. Thanks for sharing.

Drudgereport is the most simple site ever but must be one of the largest by #'s.

BTW What happened to the prediction of oil going up over after the election. I see its now under 60 and falling. Same with gold, its a free dive.

it should take off after the christmas retailing season. My timing may not be to the day, but the pressures and trends exist. So the longer these pressures drag out, the bigger the snap back will be. Just like Real Estate.
