 HEAVEN'S NEW ARRIVAL

Wayne Byrne called me yesterday to tell me that his wife Barbara Ann has passed away.  She has been fighting lung cancer for over a year.  So weird, last week she was up and around - they took a trip to their Florida condominium for a vacation for eight days.  Yesterday, she was gone.

The best way for me to describe Barbara Ann is that she wore her heart on the outside.
It is very rare that I go to a funeral, but we are dropping everything today to fly to Nashville to be with my friends Wayne and Heather.  Barbara Ann was a victim of lung cancer.  I just don't understand Cancer.  Why does it take the very very best, most loving people?  By far, cancer has taken more of my friends than any other affliction, and it nearly took my friend Jeff.
Wayne wanted to pass on a thank you to the blog readers.  He swears that it was your support and prayers that gave her an additional year+ of life.  When I made the first prayer request, she was literally on her death bed.  Every day that she got extra to spend with her husband and daughters was a gift... so thank you.
Cancer is awful, and losing Barbara Ann is a reminder that the pain and suffering of this disease needs more research.  I've just made a donation in her name to the American Lung Association and if you would like to as well, an e-card will be sent to the family that will show your donation in turning something tragic into a positive.  CLICK HERE

Gary,

I lost a brother to cancer a few years ago and I have lost many friends and family to cancer over the years. I also have a few friends that have survived cancer despite terrible odds. I don't understand the "why them" either but I like to believe that their wonderful spirits were more needed elsewhere. I also like to think that they have gone away on a trip and that we will cross paths again at some later time. This doesn't take away from how much I miss them today but rather, it reminds me that we are all on different journeys and the experiences created by those crossing paths are what living life is about. Such great memories.

I wish the best for Howard and the families in coping with the loss of their beloved Barbara and to remind them that Barbara's is no longer suffering from the pain of Cancer. She is free again.

Gary,

I'm sorry for your loss. I know the pain Cancer victims suffer, both of my parents died of Cancer. I know they are all in a better place, without pain. Dawn and I will say a prayer for her to be welcomed into Gods light and for her family whom survive her.

It's funny how selfish we can be. As much as I wanted my father to stay and fight, it was only for my self need to keep him here. I prayed for him to have the strength to survive. He fought the good fight, then one night he asked me, "Can I go now? I need to rest, I want to be with your mother." That night I set my selfish desire to hold here aside and told my father to go, be at peace. I prayed to God to welcome him and he passed an hour later. I hate letting go and I hate that so many people I have loved have fallen to Cancer.

I will continue to keep positive thoughts and to lie on my back and smile up to God knowing there is peace.

Thanks again, Gary & Melissa, for opening up your home and friendship to Dawn & I.

Safe travels,

Bobby D.

I am in tears----I feel so bad for Wayne. I'm still shaken up
about myself---and am anxious to find out if I have it too or not.
I will dearly keep them in my prayers for courage to move on with
life.

I'm so glad you all are dropping everything to be with Wayne. He
needs it more than anything. I pray if anything happens to me, that
everybody is there for Bill and the children. But thats just
speculation, but if THAT DOES happen, I sure hope Bill gets the
support like Wayne has.

Bless your hearts .. you and Melissa.

Cuemommy - I completely don't understand why this burden even exists - and always to the finest people. You seem like a wonderful, strong person and I'll send my thoughts your way.
