OK I was in the SHARPER IMAGE store in San Francisco a few days ago, and there's a video of Trump going on and on with his scowl saying, "Trump steaks are the best, and I know steaks!". Right next to remote controls. Remote controls! And you get the steaks shipped to you in a box.
As a marketing person, here's why the product will have difficulty finding customers.
1) They say you sell the sizzle, not the steak. These steaks don't sizzle.
2) If I buy a steak from Trump, I am nervous about finding a long strand of blond hair in it.
3) He is not a steak authority. I equally would not buy Paris Hilton burritos.
4) If I buy a $999 box of steaks, I can't eat all of that in one night, so they will be frozen steaks. I can get fresh steaks at the butcher shop.
5) There is always the risk that I will burn the steaks and I would not take that risk.
