169.4 - 5.4 pounds from my goal!!

This is the first time I've seen the first two digits, "1" and "6" together in probably 20 years.  When I went to the doctor's office in February complaining of pre-diabetic conditions... they said my optimum weight should be 165, and at the time (photos on left) I was over 200.
If you've followed this blog, I lost nearly 30lbs in a month of simply changing the insulin level peaks.  Spreading meals 5 hours apart - lots of water in between with no snacking and having flax/pumpkin/sesame and sunflower seeds with nonfat yogurt in the morning really helps.  Eating the seeds reduces the absorption of glucose, which keeps your insulin levels down, which will then stimulate HGH on the fifth hour.
The most amazing thing is that my weight is still going down even though I'm pretty much off the exact diet.  I'm so glad it's off of me.  I feel free.

Nice job Gary. You look healthy. It has to be a huge relief after the routine you were doing before. The long cardio, eating what you thought were healthy foods & then not losing the weight.
Its cool how the little manipulations to how you eat can make such a huge difference in your life.

I saw the same thing in myself & it held me back for years. Congratulations & well done.

You look great Gary! Maybe I should try this too. I have to squeeze into a rather snug bridesmaid dress in 6 weeks, yikes!

Justine, you always look great - which is proof everybody no matter who believes they need to go on a diet. Nice headshot on your new website by the way!

Mr. Gary Fong,

First, the Lightsphere proved really popular at my last event, and it saved a lot of shots!

Next, today at Whole Foods I picked up flaxseed for the first time in my whole life because of your diet recs. You're not only changing how people shoot pictures, you're changing how people eat! Kudos. 165 is my goal as well, I think this will help. My cereal routine has got to go.

I forgot the other seeds, so I'm going back tomorrow. Thanks and ciao~

Gary,

Two years ago my AIC was 7.5.  I got serious about working out and eating better.  Like you, I weighed about 200 pounds.  Now I'm at 165.  My A1C is 6.2.  Anything under 6.4 is not considered type II.  My diet is very similar to yours, but I also added 45 minutes a day of riding an exercise bike, plus 15 minutes of weights.  The hardest part was actually sticking with the exercise.  But then I realized there was a way to make time go by faster.  I noticed my 12 year old son always complained that I never gave him enough time on the X-Box 360.  I'd call him up telling him his 60 minutes were up (that's all he gets on the weekend).  He'd say "dad, it's only been two minutes, I SWEAR TO GOD".  And I'd show him the clock.  He'd look at me as if he'd been through a time warp.  So I decided to try it myself.  I started playing Halo 2 on the X-Box 360 while working out and sure enough the 45 minutes seem to fly by.  Before I knew it, I had reached my ideal weight (and became pretty good at Halo 2).

I'll also watch Photovision videos and movies from time to time when  working out too.

I'm 45 and I've never felt  younger or stronger.   I totally understand it when you say that you 'feel free".  My wife didn't need to lose weight, but she started working out with me and she looks fantastic.

When my doctor saw my weight loss and better AIC results, he said, "you just added another 10 years to your life.  Quality years"

Keep up the good work Gary.  It's worth it!

That's an amazing transformation Gary! You do look super healthy now. I've enjoyed watching your progress. I just recently lost 30 lbs and am still trying to lose a bit more. Just did a progress report post myself...but without a "before" picture. Stop by and have a look. I'll do the full-on before/after pics when I'm done, which will hopefully be soon. Keep up the great work!
