MARK STRICKLAND IS HERE IN L.A.!
Yay! Mark is here. He is Jess Strickland's husband and he is so much fun. He's one of my favorite people whenever he comes around we run off completely out of control.
He's a private jet pilot and his boss has some biz to do in L.A. so he can come out and visit. Today we took the yacht out around the marina and it was beautiful but the winds picked up so much that when I tried to get back into my slip, we kept turning sideways.
This is a photo of Mark and Missy on the bow (wait if 'aft' is the back, then what is the stern? hell I don't know) of the HMS Kelowna. I have no idea how to work the radio, or any of the guidance electronics.

----Abaft. Any part of the boat aft of amidships. ----After end (aft). The after end (aft) of a boat is the stern. ----Amidships. Amidships is a point about halfway between the bow and stern and the sides of the boat. ----Athwartships. When something is said to be athwartships, it’s across the boat from side to side. ----Forward end (fore). The forward end (fore) of the boat is the bow. ----Inboard. Inboard usually describes the area inside the boat or an object nearer the centerline of the boat. ----Outboard. Outboard describes the area furthermost from the boat’s centerline or beyond the side of a boat. ----Starboard. When facing forward of the boat, your right-hand side is the starboard. ----Port. When you are facing forward of the boat, your left-hand side is the port...:)

Well can you at least work the fish finder ? If you got one of those gadgets onboard.
It would be really cool if you could show some on the equipment you have onboard. Maybe any online navigation software ?

Gary,

When you had announced you were thinking about marriage, I wrote you an email telling you I am a boat owner/captain and a pretty good photographer (fisherman, scuba dive animal/instructor, underwater video freak and generally a fun time guy) and that I would come there and be your private captain. cause I know how to run your electronics.

BTW the pointy end of the boat is the bow, the other end is the stern. When you're facing the pointy end, the right side of the boat is starboard the left side used to be called larboard, but the American navy changed that to port.

When it's windy, use the wind to help in docking... don't fight it. I could show you.

One more thing, I love your album ATNs. Saves me a lot of time. I beta tested PS back in '87 for Aldus, then for Adobe. Did betas on PS, PageMaker, Illustrator, Quark and a bunch of other graphics app.s. Still do!

So, should you be looking for someone of my description, my 2 web sites; http://www.d-pro.com and http://www.jimcoventryphoto.com

Warmly,

Jim Coventry

unless your in a canoe, then the pointy end is the stern , unless your facing the other way then thats the bow. Port is a kind of wine.  four letters which is the same amount of letters in left,  port is the left side facing the bow. (none canoe) . starboard is when a famous person is with you...  ARRRGGH,  is it talk like a pirate day???

did that help?
