| | I never landed the 360 in snowboarding; nor did I make it to the MOMA, but all in all, I think I did everything I wanted to before I left for Hong Kong.
Yesterday, I finally arrived. Oh, I've been here physically for over three weeks now, but yesterday I moved into my new apartment. Now that I have a place to organize, decorate and trash, I feel like I've finally started to put down roots in this place.
I live on the 33rd floor of a modern apartment building with spacious views of Hong Kong harbor, the skyscrapers of Central and the hillside of the Peak. However, I'm not living where most of the other expats live, up in the Mid-Levels. My area is quite "local." I walked around today and bought some tupperware for $1, as well as a huge bag of dumplings for $4.
On the other hand, I've already managed to blow out my expensive new Bose speakers in a disastrous experiment as an amateur electrician. As I was too lazy to remove the speakers from my desk, they're still sitting atop my computer monitor, silently mocking me. Play, goddammit! So what if the voltage here is twice what it is in the U.S. You should be able to handle a teeny bit extra electricity without dying, you wussies. |
