  • Missionary Kidnapped!

I received this email today and hoped that if I posted it you might feel burdened to pray for this young Pastor. Gospel for Asia is a highly respected Christian organization that supports missionaries in India. One hundred percent of donations given go directly to the missionaries on the field. Those working in the US are responsible for raising their own funds. It's the only missionary organization that I would trust sending money to. Not that there are not others who are responsible. I just know more about this one and have received good reports. Please join me in praying for our brother and those who are being persecuted in India.

    Dear Mrs. Girouard,

It is my sad duty to share with you the news that one of our Gospel for Asia native missionaries has been kidnapped by terrorists in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh.

Pastor Subhash, a young single missionary who has already started five mission stations with 28 believers, was returning home in a taxi with five other people--but they never reached their destination.

Yesterday, Subhash's parents received a letter that said he had been kidnapped by an extremist Marxist group known as the Naxalites.  The letter did not mention any ransom or other demand, but did ask that Subhash's parents "help in order to secure his safe release."

This latest incident comes in a week in which we have received reports of more than two dozen of our native missionaries and Bible college students being badly beaten in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.  It also comes as hundreds of thousands of Hindus are planning to swarm into a tribal area of Gujarat in order to persecute the Christians living there.

Please pray for Subhash's safe release.  Pray also for his parents, that God will be with them through this ordeal.  And please join me and the rest of the GFA family in praying for all of our persecuted brothers and sisters across South Asia who are suffering at the hands of anti-Christian elements.

Yours for the lost of Asia,

    K.P. Yohannan

Being a missionary in certain countries is very dangerous. RYC-I've been bad about testing lately. I keep forgetting. I try to test 2 hrs. after meals and if I miss it than I don't test. But when I have the number are ok, but not as good as I would like. I have an apt. in about a week and they will be doing an AlC. I've also gained a couple of lbs. I've got to get myself back on track. I'll pray for you, please pray for me.

We will be in prayer for the kidnapped missionary.

To answer your question:  TFC is an interdenominational ministry geared to Winning Truck Drivers to Jesus Christ and Teaching Them to Grow in Their Faith

We supply truck stops with chapels (refurbished tractor trailers) and chaplains.  We like to park chapels at a prominent location on the lot, and hook up to the truck stop's electric.  Chaplains are usually on site every day of the week.  Many sleep on the chapel are available throughout the night.

The chapels appear to be mobile, but they stay on location wherever we are invited - usually for years at a time.  We are not a church.  We help drivers find a local church if that is one of their needs.

The chapel (trailer) section is divided into two sections - living/office quarters and the chapel area.  The living/office quarters is for the chaplain's private use, the chapel is open for counseling, visitors, Bible studies, and worship services.

Each chapel is operated by a lead chaplain (who is on staff and receives an income from TFC) and several volunteers.

We have 3 chapels in Russia, 4 in Canada, 23 in the USA, and a mobile chapel that is used for promotional work in the Great Lakes area.  We also have several locations where the truck stop management offers us a room in place of a chapel, usually because of parking space on the lot.

The ministry is always changing, as truck stops are constantly changing.  Most truck stops are no longer privately owned.  Today they are are owned by one of four major cooperations.  That is beginning to make placing chapels a bit more difficult for us, and sometimes when new owners take over, they ask us to remove the chapel (usually very kindly).  Just yesterday, one of the chaplains in the southeast was asked to remove their chapel from the grounds.

You can learn more about Transport For Christ and our locations by checking our website at www.transportforchrist.org.

Our email is tfcner@dejazzd.com if you have questions you don't care to ask on your blog.

I made a post sometime in January that has a link to a TV interview about TFC.  It is a neat three-minute soundbite about our chapel in South Carolina.  I do not remember the day I posted it, but I also posted a photo of a chapel that day.

We all do need to remember our missionaries who are in dangerous countries.  they need the prayers of those of us stateside to lift them up.

I always wanted to be a missionary when I was a little girl.  When I was older I forgot about it and just wanted to be a wife and mommy.

I will keep them in my prayers.

    God bless you

I wanted to tell you I finally tried Stevia. I've been using it in my tea. They had several kinds. I got the little packets that have FOS in them. It's some kind of fiber. I haven't tried cooking with it.

I'll be praying for the young missionary. May the Lords  hand set him free.

Have a blessed weekend & God keep you safe, healthy & happy. HUGS
