  • Grandchildren

    I found this poem on another blog and loved it. Since my children are grown I replaced the word 'children' with 'grandchildren'.

    God, give me wisdom to see that today is my day with my (grand)children,
    That there is no unimportant moment in their lives.
    May I know no other career is as precious,
    No other work so rewarding,
    No other task so urgent.
    May I not defer it nor neglect it,
    But by Thy Spirit accept it gladly, joyously, and by Thy grace realize
    That the time is short and my time is now–
    For (grand)children don’t wait.         By, Helen Young

     I wish that I could say that I always followed the wisdom in the poem above. But, to be perfectly transparent, I must admit that I have those times when I tend to have my eye focused more on my 'to do list' than the laughter of my grandchildren.

    But, more times than not, I am filled with thankfulness that God has blessed me with the privilege of having some of my grandchildren living right next door and a few more within a short drive.

    My youngest grandson spent last night and then my oldest grandson came to visit today and spend the night with his cousin next door. The two of them were playing at the back of the property in the field.  I was heading out to the chicken pen to check on their water and food when I noticed that my granddaughter was off to herself at the opposite side of the field from the boys. She slowly walked towards me with her head and shoulders slumped over. As she came near she said, "Da boys won't play with me, Gwammy!"  "I'm sorry, darlin'!" I replied.  She slipped her small little hand in mine as we walked towards the hen house. After a short pause she said, "I have no one to play with me but you Gwammy!"

    Suddenly all the work that went undone today meant nothing!

    RYC-I'll be glad to share any recipes I try. Last night I made a Tomatoe Mushroon Omelet. No recipe. I just sauted the mushroons, made the omelet and then laid in sliced tomatoes and stuck it under the broiler to heat the toms a bit. Then I added the mushroom and folded. I served it topped with sour cream. I always use the fake one. I'm thinking I should check the carbs on that. I'm finding out these low fat fake dairy products often have more carbs in them.

    RYC-10 veggies a day! Good for you. I love eggplant, but I like to grill it or roast it because it tends to soak up so much fat. I brush it with olive oil so it has some but not too much. I also love to occassionally make a sauted eggplant and zucchini with red bell peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes, it's a french dish, which I can't spell the name of. Eggplant is one of my favorite vegs.

    hi, georgene!  as you probably know already,  i've started school, full-time, so am not on xanga much lately, except to update my own site. i'm trying to get around to those on my protected list today, just to touch base and let y'all know that i've not forgotten about you or stopped praying for you. i now have this hour drive each way from classes to concentrate on prayer and i am enjoying that time very much.  do stop by and let me know how things are going with you, ok?  i've always appreciated your comments and encouragements! i agree with you on the grandchildren....i had my grandson yesterday morning....what a precious 2 year old...what an open mind and pure heart....what a wonderful opportunity to spend time with him.....i love it!   take care! -bette

    Those moments are the most presious. Now I have the great grandbaby moments. I love my GGS's hugs and laughter. He will be 2 in May. The poem is so right. My youngest grandchild it 14 and the oldest is 30. The oldest lives close by but the youngest lives in Florida. I miss her something awful.

    Response to your question ... I am on the Gerson Therapy for treatment of cancer.  In my case, colon with mets to the liver.  Stage four.  It requires 10 fresh juices daily, citrus for breakfast, then throughout the day, 5 carrot-apple and 4 green juices (lettuces, pepper, apple).  It's not an easy program.

    Hi there! The class is going pretty good. Of course I am a little impatient and would like to see things move faster :) But the Lord is in control and I am not. I am really encouraging 'surrender' and it is a slow process with some for the ladies who are afraid of what that will look like in their lives (what if He asks me to give 'this' up? I want to still control this area) The tendancy is to focus on food and diet  even though the books oppose this. It is a struggle to keep them focused on Christ and being satisfied in Him alone- they still want to be focused on following all the rules/disciplines just right. I am excited at the way God is moving in there though. Everything in His timing :) Thanks for asking.

    Every day I spend with my grandson is so presiouse. You are indeed vary blessed. I been  trying to convince my daughter for her and her son come live with me. But she don't dare to because even thought her job isn't that great or what she want to do right now it is what is needed to property be able to take care of her and her son medical care. Thats one area I wish I could take care of for her but can not. :( .

    Are your talk about eggplant got me wanting it LOL... Love it great. 6 years ago I neaver knew what it was or what it tasted like. What a blessing it is too :).
