This weekend Marines Reserve training sparked alot of emotions.
We were training in Urban Warfare and Convoy reactions to an attack and it was probably the most realistic training in my short Marine Career. I thought alot about my Iraq experience alot.
It also brought back alot of memories and feelings for alot of us, especially in light of news that we are going to Iraq in 8 to 10 months from now, BUT NOTHING FINAL.
I thought about death and chaos alot today and the misery of being there. I thought about what if i got accepted to UCLA for college and I lose my acceptance because of my deployment. I pondered about what kind of situation I might end up with. And in my hearts of hearts, I have this gut feeling that this time when we go back, its going to be much more crazier than the first time.

Alot of the new Marines in our unit has the puppy eye look of innocence...this weekend training was the first that alot of them heard about our experience in Iraq.
AMong Marines, Marines tend to not talk about Iraq.
But this weekend reserve training was different. |
