QUESTION OF THE DAY: DOES THE MEDIA LIE?

THIS IS FROM PASTOR BLASTOR'S XANGA...YOU GUYS SHOULD VISIT IT FROM TIME TO TIME, HE HAS ENLIGHTENING XANGA ENTRIES THAT IS VERY THOUGHT PROVOKING IN REGARDS TO CURRENT EVENTS...

abar7_e0.gif

Why We Should Never Trust the Mainstream Media

Most of the media outlets do little, if any, exploration of their own anymore. This is especially true of newspapers. They will use Associated Press or Reuters news services and just regurgitate what they send over the wires. Here is an excellent example:

On the left "A Palestinian woman weeps during the funeral of Mohammed Fara in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005. Fara, 45, who died in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday was killed when a metal fuel tank he was drilling through accidently exploded, a Palestinian investigator said. (AP Photo/Hatem Moussa)"

On the right "Palestinian relatives of Mohammad Al-Qara, 45, who was killed by Israeli troops on Tuesday, mourn during his funeral in Abassan village, southern Gaza Strip December 13, 2005. Israeli troops firing into the Gaza Strip killed a Palestinian man on Tuesday near the boundary where militants and soldiers have exchanged fire in recent days, Palestinian witnesses and medics said. (REUTERS/Ibraheem Abu Mustafa)"

Huh? Aren't these two women actually the same woman? And if so, exactly what are the odds that a relative of Mohammad Al-Qara is also friend of Mohammed Fara, and that both had a funeral on the same day, and at about the same time of day? And that the backgrounds behind the woman/women look strikingly similar?

MY OWN COMMENT: AND WHAT"S THE CHANCE THAT THE CAMERA CAPTURES BOTH OF THEM BEING GRABBED FROM THE RIGHT SIDE BY SOMEONE"S ELSE HAND?

But this can't be, because one was from the AP and one was from Reuters. One was done by Hatem Moussa and the other by Ibraheem Abu Mustafa.

Is she some "super special celebrity guest mourner"? Is she simply related to two men that both had simultaneous funerals by the same funeral director? Is she a twin? And why would the AP even care of some poor Joe died when a metal fuel tank he was drilling through accidently exploded - I mean, how is this 'world news'?

And people wonder why so many of us distrust the mainstream media.

Does the MEDIA lie?  I would say that anybody with a brain knows that they do!! I honestly can't stand listening to them.   About 3 years ago I moved from watching NBC (Katie Couric) to ABC (Charley and Diane) and now I can't stand them anymore!!!  Last night I saw the tail end of some program my husband had on . . .Barbara Walters had asked this pastor from Colorado a question, "If people don't believe/accept Jesus, you mean they are going to hell?" He looked at her square in the eyes and said, "Yes." She started saying, "Well, I don't know how God can be so judgmental......" Oh, People!!!!  It's apparently some series on Heaven that they are doing....the next one will be on Tuesday evening at 9PM, I believe.  Enjoy your vacation, Jimmy!!  (I have a question for you ~ are your Mom and Dad believers also???)  Where did you go to higschool? ~ MKHS ~ SGHS ~ AHS.  My kids went to SGHS graduating in 1994 and 1995.  Blessings ~Carolyn

Hi again!

I just read the link you posted in your comment yesterday...I'm guessing you were pastorpulpit? Interesting and exhausting debate.

You'll never guess what happened today at 10:00 am! Jehovah's Witnesses came to our door! I deal w/ a lot of judgment and condemnation from my husband's family who attends the denomination, "Chruch of Christ". One of my brother in laws says we are going to hell for not attending Church regularly even though my husband suffers from an illness and is unable to attend.

Lillian's anger (you saw her at my site) stems from these ppl and how they treat my husband and I. She sees them as hypocrites and just mean ppl in general.

sorry so long, have a great weekend...btw, Lillian is my sister and she is VERY ROUGH around the edges, quite the wounded soul, but we love her none the less.

RYC, most of the women in this picture attend Grace Evangelical Free Church. I attend Mass with my husband, but my love and desire is to spend as many hours as possible in The Living Word Chapel, a non-denominational church near us, it is there that I get fed the Word of God, and found salvation. If you want to see pictures of the church and some of the congregation I have two links up on my site Living Word, and In His Name Ministry.

so many people in the world just simply trust media, the word of man and don't trust the BIBLE, the word of God; it's ironic

oh, and i got into florida institute of tech and illinois institute of tech for business, and university of chicago just deferred me into regular admissions (so I still have a chance): so yeah, basically for most of the colleges i put my major in business and some others i just put undecided. The colleges that people got into now are just the people who early actioned/decisioned somewhere. We find out the rest of the colleges next year by april 1st. haha, long wait now. Oh, and when I found out santa didn't exist, i just remembered thinking, wow, I knew the idea of santa was a little fishy, lol

The counterpoint series in Zondervan with the one on Law/Gospel is quite good (although I really don't like the format of the system).  I think that book has more potential to reach people than anything else Bhansen wrote.

Ken Gentry wrote God's Law for the Modern World.  It is a hundred or so pages.  Decent primer.
Bahnsen wrote By This Standard.  You can go to www.freebooks.com and read more, although their font is kind of funky.

If you think you are up for ponderous prose and dense arguments, then by all means read Bahnsen's Theonomy in Christian Ethics.  You get a cool MP3 cd with it.

Yes, I would say I am pressupositional in my apologetics method. I am more of the Clark persuasion than Van Til's "pressupositional" method.

im offended by your comment. Yes, I'm opening to reasoning when people dont impose themselves on me, which I feel you did STRONGLY by trying to convert me. No, I'm not completley atheist, if it would be of any difference to you, I'll unsubscribe to that thing. gosh, don't get all...ish ish on me.
