I was at San Diego spending time with my sister Jenny. I like San Diego. I looked at the calender recently, and I realized that it has been three years ago when I was in Iraq. And certain places in San Diego makes me think back to when we came back, and we were at Camp Pendleton, how a group of marines and I were happy to be back, and to be at San Diego. The poem below was written in 2004, a year after I got back and when I was reminicing. http://teamtruth.com/poetry/po_twentyone.htm San Diego: One Year After IraqSan Diego beach with the California sun, Images of sand, waves and fun, Yet with the weather and the scenery, Memories flood over me, Of last year’s return from Iraq, Of Memories coming back. The San Diego breeze that greeted our return, Emotionally moved to see grass, trees and fern, To breathe in the air of one’s home country, To sleep at night with the AC in tranquility. The sweet memory of a Marine’s return, Floating then with with no worries or concern, Glad that not only of sand between your toes, But there’s rather, reaching up to your nose, The welcoming smell of seaweed and the sea, It was a romance with the Lord’s Majesty, Much thanks I have to the Lord then and now… --Jimmy Li http://teamtruth.com/poetry/po_twentyone.htm And a reminder: HELP CORPORAL BINH LE'S FAMILY... |
