Letters from the Mission Field...

A dear friend of mine whom I have permission from, wrote to several other believers about his missions in another country.

Folks, you might wonder why sometimes I rant alot of political stuff here on Xanga.  You might even wonder why I sometimes appear too strongly opinated and maybe even down right a little too mean (I admit my rough edges and know that I'm hoping and praying for sanctification in this area, to be firm and yet CHrist-like) when it comes to political posting.

Well, I would say I'm concern with social justice and I don't mean it like a left leaning way.

I believe and would never would hope I comprimise the GOSPEL.  Nor would I ever subsitute political ideology for the GOspel itself.  Just like how we care called to pray and yet praying is different than the gospel and to have both of them is not against one another, in the same sense, this is how I see the gospel and social/political issues.

Though legislation has its place, ultimately, hearts must be changed first. Individuals make up society and individuals who has been changed by the power of GOd should reject the materialistic value, greed, jealousies, etc and put desires in its right place, by the Grace of God.

There is power in the Cross to change cultures for the better through the saving transformation of the gospel in individuals hearts and lives...and their ethics by the Power of the SPIRIT would be changed in their day to day and occupational life...

To: everyone,

I got back yesterday from a trip to a different part of the country...
One thing which caught me off guard as an American was the rampant spread of corruption in all sphere of this society.  Constantly people here have to deal w/bribery and extortion by law enforcement, education, the medical system, etc.

Although the USA and other western nations are certainly not innocent of these things I was stunned to hear the injustice which one poor family had to go through from a hospital. Forced to deal w/their father's illness which cost them much financially, the nurses further burdened them by refusing to give the father the shots and medication he needed w/o being paid for each.  In addition, a believer who has unresolved issues in another country was jailed and law enforcement threatened to return him to that nation if his family didn't pay them a tremendous bribe. Luckily by the grace of God his case is currently being handled in this nation and he won't have to return to the other nation. These are just two examples of the countless stories of injustice which people here must deal with. Why am I bringing this to your attention? The reason why is because many of us as Americans take for granted the liberties, justice, and quality of life that are the fruits of Biblical principles applied to a society.

Although many here complain about the injustices and problems of their society what it really comes down to is the heart. W/o the hope which comes only by Christ redeeming individuals who can redeem their society, the peope here will never be able to truly deal with the issues which plague their society. Furthermore, I fear that the radical ******' seeds might one day sprout like weeds here and in many moderate ****** nations as the people grow weary of broken and empty promises from their governments along w/the shallowness of materialism. However, there is hope as many churches have been planted throughout this nation. In fact, many Christians are now taking the intiative to proclaim the Gospel through various strategies.  Well I must go know but I'll update soon. Stay strong in Him.

Brother, this is what I deal with everyday in Trinidad! I too am sick of the social injustice that I see on a constant basis. That is one reason why I had a medical team come down and give free medical care. We have new borns die on a weekly basis, corruption and abuse from authorites and this is in an oil rich country. Money is not the issue. What is the issue is ther theivery of the money by those in power and the abuse of power. You are right! The Gospel is able to change people. I have been constantly reminded by the Word of God just how much God hates injustice and the lack of care for the poor! Keep up the good work and btw, we would love to host a ministry team from your church and we also have a huge Chinese community here. The Chinese have been here since the 1800's.

We are so fortunate to live in the United States. There is much that is wrong here, but not nearly as much as in other places. It is such a shame that people don't realize how blessed they are.

And thank you for the comment about my daughter finding a boyfriend. I know she will. And I don't want her to settle for the wrong one. It would be so nice if God would put a sign on the right one, so we would know!
