Groanings Too Deep For Words

I shall get to my next installment of the Truth or the Lie next time.  Instead please read the following and intercede for our little friend.  My heart is breaking for this little guy and this family!

Elijah has a very rare form of seizures called Doose Syndrome.  His little brother may also have it (it's often seen in other family members, especially boys.)  He is only 9 years old and has been suffering with this for over 5 years.

His family is VERY dear and sweet, and have been our close friends for many years.  As you can read from mom Wendy's post, they are hurting badly!  Most children who have this disorder do not live, although the survivor rates are growing as new medical advances are being made.

Please read and pray....Thank you!

{From Wendy's Care Page}

We are GROANING!!!!   Please groan with us and intercede for Elijah.

                                              Elijah

"And in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with GROANINGS too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts know what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God."

Groaning has become such a part of me that sometimes I can't function like I use too due to the longevity and consistency of the groaning.

WHAT DO YOU DO?
When your little boy's face and body are so distorted in the control of a seizure; yet you can read his eyes that say help me I'm scared.  What do you do?

When his belly growls all night because the battle that rages in him from the meds that argue "I'm starving" but the stronger voice says, "I can't eat cuz my belly hurts too much." What do you do?

When you feed him cuz he has to eat, but because his taste buds change due to meds, that he spits it up cuz it makes him sick.  What do you do?

What do you do when the seizures are so hard that he groans to you that you have come to understand and "carry me to the bathroom cuz I have no control over my body," because the seizure was so hard he can't move.  What do you do?

When valium and oxygen become a fixture in your home that you hope to stop using someday, but keep returning too with much grief.  What do you do?

When your body feels so full of pain from the ache in your heart that you wish it would all end.  What do you do?

When you have guilt (maybe false guilt, but still guilt) and fear of regret nipping at your heels like a rabid dog.  What do you do?

When your little boy has had so many seizures and bad days in a row that your heart can hardly bear it; yet he sits and draws with his shaky little hand pictures of Jesus on a cross over and over.  What do you do?

When you've done all there is to do, meds, surgeries and yet he keeps returning to the "downhill side of this disease.  What do you do?

What do you do when he wants to be independent for a minute and be a big brother to his little sister, and walk her a few feet away from you to buy her candy, and then she has to be the big sister that runs to get help cuz he is in a seizure.  What do you do?

What do you do when he finally gets in the water just feet away from you up to his chest and enjoys himself... long enough to go under in a seizure.  You grab him and he is in a seizure so hard you can hardly lift him out of the water.  You scream.  You cry.  And yet he still is seizing and choking on water.  What do you do?

When every "thud" or "bump" causes your heart to stop and then start again as you race to find the source of the sound assuming it's your little one in a seizure.  What do you do?

When your body awakens in the night every time your little one stirs as you lay in silent prayer hoping it's not "another one".  What do you do?

When he again is struggling to swallow and talk and you spend your every moment trying to figure out why.  Asking yourself is it the meds, the Vagal Nerve Stimulator, the seizures?  What do you do?

When bad days out number good days.  What do you do?

All I can do is GROAN!!!!!!!!! and believe in my heart it is being heard by The CREATOR of my little boy who loves him even more than I.

~ Wendy

My goodness!!  I'm learning to pray God's Word back to Him...I hear He loves it:  Ephesians 3:14-21 My response is to get down on my knees before the Father, this magnificent Father who parcels out all heaven and earth.  I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit - not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength - that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in.  And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you'll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ's love.  Reach out and experience the breadth!  Test it's length!  Plumb the depths!  Rise to the heights!  Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.  God can do anything you know - far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreasm.  He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and genlty within us.  Amen!

I will certainly keep this precious boy and his family in my prayers. My neighbor has a grandson who has this same syndrome and it is so frightening for the family. God bless them.

HE counts every tear, hears every groan, and abides constantly with those who love Him...and despite the outward appearance of  exhausted emotional resources...HE is still in control, and HE still holds those who are acting as HIS  hands and feet for Elijah. HE won't let them down...ever! Prayers for this family for strength and wisdom to endure what must be endured, but most importantly for peace in all their minds and hearts. Imagine how many people have been touched by the life of this little boy, and his praying family!

Beth, please let Wendy and her family know that they are in my prayers, also.  May God wrap them in his arms, hold them tight, and provide the strength and endurance that they so badly need.  My tears are falling, too, as a mother I know that this has to be heart wrenching to watch and not feel like you are able to do anything to help.  But she has to realize that she and her family are DOING so much for him.  They are there when he falls, or to hold his head out of the water, or to take him where he needs to go.  They are there to show him how much they all love him and will always be there for him.  Thanks for sharing.  Taka

Hi Mrs. C., My heart aches so badly for this family.  They are so beautiful.  It puts all my petty problems in proper perspective.  I wish there was something I could do to help, but I will be praying.  That I can do.  Oh, it just breaks my heart to see that precious little boy.

Thank you so much for your comment and for putting the "offended" link, I do remember it from last year, it has always stuck with me.  I had thought about while I was writing my own entry, is what I didn't remember is that it was the exact same verse the Lord had used to show me that!  It is something you rarely heard taught on, but such an important lesson.  Thank you for sharing your wisdom.  Love, Marianna
