  • “Death for Love”

In the darkness of the night I could see him staggering through the bushes. The crimson ribbon flowing from him was soaking into and intertwining with every last fiber of his shirt. Maybe it was the icy gaze with those glistening, gorgeous, blue eyes that made me shiver, or maybe it was the bitterness of his heavy breaths. Whatever it was, it made me fall in love with him even more. As he caressed my cheek with his deathly cold hands, and swiped his thumb to rid the salty sparkle in my eye, he whispered in his low raspy voice, his breath warmly grazing my ear, “He’s gone sweetheart.” For the longest time, I thought those words would give me the ultimate satisfaction. Alas, I wanted more. I wanted him; though I could see in his eyes he did not love me back.

As I ran my hands along his body, I felt a break in his skin. A small circle of where metal fire pierced his gorgeous chest right through to where my heart lies, in his. Minutes seemed like hours as he held me close, nuzzled against the crook of his neck. His scent would have sent any girl running towards him; it shot me straight up to heaven. It was divine; so pure and sweet.

When I looked up he fell limply to the ground. No, this can’t be! Salty streams came flowing from my eyes. I laid my ear against his chest, listening to the rhythm of his life draining away. ‘Lub,’ I need to tell him. ‘Dub,’ I have to tell him. ‘Lub,’ is this all worth it? ‘Dub,’ or is this all for nothing? I cupped his cheek in my hand and looked into those glimmering, ice blue eyes. “I love you.”

As he exhaled his last warm breath of life, stammering as if he wanted to prolong this moment, he parted his lips and all the sound that came from his beautiful voice was, “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”

Wow, I haven't written like that in a long time.
