  • HANG LOOSE COUSINS

    Hey Cousins!

Day three here in Hawaii and it started off with rain!  Rain!!!  But I decided to brave the waves anyway and went out with a small group to a surf spot off Waikiki.

Oh btw, the Luau last night was amazing!  Thanks to Sheila for recommending it! Got to meet a couple from Sweden, a mother and daughter from Australia and a young lady from California.  Good times.  Will post pics later tonight.  The girls from Tahiti can sure shake it...dang.

So up early this morning and got picked up.  We learned how to dismount, paddle, turn and stand.  We then took our longboards out and paddled and paddled for what seemed like an hour until we got to the break point (is that what it's called?) where the waves started to come onto land.  I think my arms fell off in the ocean from being so sore from paddling out on the board.  A nice dolphin came by and reattached them (without anesthetic!) and then did a flip and disappeared.  Or was that just my imagination?

Of course, I wiped out the first time but it got easier and the last few I managed to stay standing the whole way while yelling "Wooooooooooooo!" and giving the hang loose sign.  I bet I looked funny but I don't care.  I had a blast.  Scratch another thing of my things to do list before I die!  Surf in Hawaii....check.

Had sushi for lunch...may go back to the same place for dinner!  Mmmm....oishi des yo!  Watashi wa sushi wa tottomo suki des!

Going home tomorrow and by then I'd better be seriously dark cousins.  Keep on smiling.

  • HAWAII DAY 2

    Aloha friends!

Greetings from Hawaii.  Just letting you all know that I'm never coming home.   It's beautiful here, the weather, people, ocean, even the food is beautiful.  mmm....tastes attractive...

Day two and I've signed up for a Luau at the Polynesian cultural centre.  Will post pics tonight!  Tomorrow I'm headed out on the surf with some girl surfers who'll laugh at me when I wipe out and die.  Sweet.  Maybe I'll get mouth to mouth?

Some problems came up with my condo stuff and so that's kinda putting a kink in my vacation.  Hey, I'm in an internet cafe instead of on the beach!  There's something seriously wrong with that bra!

Gotta run!  Gotta get ready for tonight.

it's 5:35am right now and I'm waiting for my flight to Chicago to board.

From there I have a two hour layover and then a nine hour flight to honalulu! Exciting stuff.

Today I finally moved out of the ghetto that was my apartment for the past four years. I wish I could say that i'll miss it some but all I'll say to that is a big HA! The apartment was alive I tell you! It's like that movie 1408 but in my case it would be '2'. Maybe it's the sequel haha.

So hopefully when I return from surfer's paradise I'll be able to pick up my keys and get settled in.

Why Hawaii? Well I can't really give you an answer except that it felt right. I've always loved the ocean and identified more with the surfer sub-culture than with any others. So if I'm going to do this, I may as well go big right? Kahuna baby! Will post pics of my pilgrimage(?) to the home I've never been to.

  • CONDO NEWS

delayed once again until march 25. bleh!

Have to re-book uhaul, phone disconnect and mail redirect but that's all I think.

The reason is something silly like the condo doesn't have running water or electricity yet or something.  Who needs those things anyway?  Heat, water and electricity are way overrated!

Here are some photos I took on my pre-delivery inspection on my last days off.

The north side of the building, my unit is actually the fourth window from the left on the bottom!
    My balcony looks 'grate'.

My fridge looks great without handles.  It'll come in handy when I need to diet.

Yeah, so I don't get the whole thing.  Sometime after occupancy, my neighbour and I will have to decide on where we want to draw our border and negotiate our treaties.  I think the border should be at the top left way in the corner.  That's fair right?

The future site of the LTD condos between the gardiner and Malibu.  Can you imagine waking up to a view like this?

The future site of Loblaws right across the street!  It's art-deco or something.

Still needs toilet paper holders, shower curtain and towel rack but those will be done upon occupancy!

Not bad for 553 sq feet right?  Light's not bad either because I'm facing north-west so I'll always get some natural light.  Except at nighttime of course.  Then it's night.

    My bedroom is located there.

That's my furnace behind the door.  It's not a very big room but should be nice and cozy.

I'll post more pics and wry commentary after the move in!
