HBC: What are you trusting in?
Article by: Josh Mitchell, pastor of Hallelujah Baptist Church
This week I was considering Paul's outstanding comment, that he counted all his righteousness in the law of God, and all that he had done, as rubbish, dung, unwanted excretement. What would drive a man with such valueable deeds and boast's in God's written law, to say such a thing?
I believe the only answer to that, is "the word of righteousness".
You see the scriptures (contrary to popular belief), actually cause a righteous man, to see how vile, wicked and disgusting he is. It even examines his righteous deeds and boasts of gboodness, and discovers that they are tainted with love for self, seeking thanks, even done whilst having a back to God in an area of sin, and so are actually evil. It strips him bare.
Isaiah said: "Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips"
(Isaiah 6:5)Job said: "I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes." (Job 42:6)
Peter said: "Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord." (Luke 5:8)
What then, was left for such a man, as good as Paul? Nothing, but dung, rubbish, unwanted excretement.
What then, is valueable to a man, upon whom "the word of righteousness" had done it's work?
A: Jesus Christ, Son of God is valuable to him. Jesus is the only man who ever lived, without sin. The Creator manifest (revealed) in the flesh, who suffered as we, and was horrifically executed for the sins of Paul, and all of God's people.
Paul counted Jesus, as the treasure of the Ages. The one person in whom he could find joy, on the day of judgment. For he found no joy in himself, saying "For I know that in my flesh dwells no good thing".So then my friends and readers, have you counted all your good works and boasts, as dung, as rubbish, as unwanted excrement? Does this statement cause you to be offended?
Perhaps you are revelling in self-righteousness, and are deceived in heart, not recognising it..
Truly, truly, is it not possible your boast is not solely in the righteous deeds of God, rather in the righteous deeds of man. Perhaps you have your boast in both, like many a popish bound soul.. yet know that your boast must alone be in God, or you shall be found in sin.To men like Paul this scripture rings, ever true:
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
1 Corinthians 1:29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
Have you made an error, then it is because you do not know the scriptures. For the bible, says all our righteous works are as filthy rags. [Isa 64:6] It says, our heart is desperately wicked and deceitful above all things. [Jer 17:9]
I would highly recommend you take heed to "the word of righteousness", and let it strip you bare, and cause you to discover your need of the righteousness that is found only in the Saviour Jesus.
Take this test:

Hello Mr. Mitchell,
You worked hard to make your site simple yet elegant. The videos are a nice touch. I see that you have a strong desire to serve God. Now is a good time! I recommend the one true God, Jehovah. He has an important message for all of us: 1 And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you. 2 If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith Jehovah of hosts, then will I send the curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings; yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart. (Malachi 2:1-2) (ASV)
I like to write articles about God and religion on my site to help people to really get to know God and His requirements, especially in these troubled times. I hope you get a chance to look at them.
Hello Mr Kingdom Message,
I pray you repent of your false religion and false god, that accepts
your "obedience" instead of faith in Jesus finished works ALONE plus
nothing.
I pray God the Father grants you repentance, from your
self-righteousness, which you have been loving and blessing by
door-knocking and doing good works. These things are wickedness,
because you do them to add to the finished works and life of Jesus
Christ. This is spitting on the work of Christ, and perpetually
flaunting yourself against him, by saying his works are NOT ENOUGH to
save you... YOU? need to add some more of your own. Repent friend, this
is evil.
Real saving living faith will produce good works, but the works are not
the faith. The faith in the finished works of Christ ought to propel
you to do good works, BECAUSE Jesus did good works to save you, not the
other way around. Our good works are filthy rags, and can never amount
to a life of perfection, which is what Jesus finished on the cross, as
the substitute for all who would repent and trust in Jesus life death
and resurrection to save them.
Jesus said, his disciples were to be witnesses unto himself, (Acts
1:8).. why then are you being a witness to the Jehovah of the
Watchtower, which is a devil?
If it is true that Jehovah is not Jesus, why does God promise to not
give his glory to another, and yet he commands Jesus to be worshiped by
the holy angels?
Isaiah 48:11 For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it:
for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto
another.
Heb 1:6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
Heb 1:7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
Heb 1:8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and
ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
Friend, I believe the Jehovah's Witness have bound your soul and mind,
by telling you that if you begin to question the doctrine of the
watchtower, or believe Jesus is the Eternal God revealed in flesh, you
are in great danger.
However you have a greater authority to obey. God wrote in his bible,
we are to test all things, and prove that which is God. God does not
mind you testing him, if that means you learn to discern between
Himself and devils. After all the Holy Spirit, had John pen down the
words, " 1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the
spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone
out into the world."
Take the good test at the top right of the page mate, and let it break
you down to tears, and destroy you. God only looks to contrite and
broken spirits, not to proud ones that trust in their own selves
I will be praying for you in the name of Jesus Christ the Eternal God manifest in flesh, for the glory of God the Father,
