  • Day 15

As uncle felt less painful after the surgery on his wisdom tooth, we went to the bowling center. I got quite a speedy improvement. This time my average mark had surpassed the one I got yesterday and ran through the gate of 92!   My aunt and uncle were surprised. However, what they got was the worst average marks for the past 3 years, as my uncle got 149 and my aunt got 126. (But those marks would be very hard achievements to me = =)

We went to the Costco, that's normal. But what came unexpected, was that there were still over 200 books of Harry Potter left and packed up for sell!
Most importantly, each only cost US$18.99!!! (US$ 18.99 * HK$7.8 = HK$ 148.122) That should be a much lower price than those being sold in Hong Kong. But according to what my aunt found out, Target was selling the books each for US$ 17.99!!!!! (US$ 17.99 * HK$7.8 = HK$ 140.322) That's the lowest price I've ever seen, so much lower than those in Hong Kong! I wonder why my sis had to rush through the crowds and line up in front of the Hong Kong book stores under our dear Mr. sun, at a temperature of 29 to 33 degree Celsius. Both Costco and Target were air-conditioned department stores!

Anyway, she bought it. That's why my father sent me an email this morning and informed me not to buy the book in US, which made us change our plan today (originally we planned to buy Harry Potter 7 from a book store in Macy's Mall at 10:00a.m.) and went to the bowling center. -_-"

Phu... Fine. I longed for the story and I was really curious about its ending.
So my aunt told me to pick up one and read it silently aside by the TV rows (Costco sells not only daily necessities but also others like books, TVs). I just flipped over the pages because I wanna read the whole story after I get back to Hong Kong. Knowing that Harry, Hermione, Ron, Ginny, and others were not going to die at the end, I felt relived and covertly put back the book.  I'm terribly sorry, Ms Rowling...

But what we discovered was that, some people read the book openly inside the store without any (seemingly) embarrassed. A boy even sat on a sofa on sell and was reading the book! We joked that Costco was much better facilitated than a library. You could have the books you want to read. You have restrooms (people here normally name them 'bathroom') inside the store. You could have some food (those for the customers to test) to fill up your empty tummy. You could even buy a cup of refillable coke next to the cashier and bring it in. My uncle suggested that I could first buy a cup of my favorite light lemonade or Iced tea (raspberry taste, we have it here, made by Nestle) then walk in and sit on the sofa to read.

I could eat while I read. That's a really great suggestion.
