| | JubilationJUBILATION!... Do you remember when that was posted on the front of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch?... Well, Maddy had that same feeling this past week in Kansas City as her softball tournament team earned Runner-up in Nationals at the Midwest Regional Softball Tournament. They placed either first or 2nd in every tournament they went to this year. I had a really cute video of her sharing her memories but it must have been too long because it didn't upload. Instead I will show you a picture of her with her season trophies & medals.
She was given the game ball prior to them making the championship game since she pitched. She had an "awesomely good" time and played extremely well. Unfortunately we weren't able to go (it was a full five day event). I feel indebted to the wonderful coaches and family that took her under their wing. It was a memory she will remember all her life.
We were super busy with other commitments last week so that is why we didn't go to K.C. I'll fill you in... First we were blessed with brother Roger Wanssen traveling to Iowa. He gave a good report on the Philippines and also gave a lesson on "faith." He is a funny guy with lots of zest. It is always an encouragement to see him and know his good work. Prior to his meeting I picked up grandma Nora Lee and she spent some quality time with grandma Mildred. They enjoyed their visit and Shea did too.
Another highlight from the week was that Niki and I bonded in the corn fields. We worked for Mike Penick for 3 days and picked sweet corn. It's always a riot to work for him and I was privileged to drive his tractor even (for about ten minutes). When we got home we shucked our corn and had the ultimate Iowa meal with my parents - sweet corn, BLT's, and cherry pie!
Another thing that has been important this week is getting ready for the Warren County Fair. It is next week! Lowell and Niki conducted the "Club Farm Tour." Niki also worked on his 4-H building exhibit project. Can you guess what he is making? I will give you a hint - it takes 500 sheets of white paper folded into triangles.
Above: With the near-to daily visits at the farm Shea really has bonded with his great ma and pa Warren. Isn't the above picture cute of the 2 in their over-alls?
The final good thing to share is Marc conducted another ITBS (Iowa Teen Bible Study). Grandma Ingle hosted the event and did a wonderful job. (Around the table are: Marc, Rodney Ingle, Alena Brady, Kyle Bown, Chantelle Shreck, Cassady Phillips, Ashley Phillips, Jenna Bown, Niki, Zach Wheeler, Justin Stevens, Ryan Zinnel, Josh Stanley, Cheree Stump, Angie Ingle (mom), Morgan Cummings, Charity Ingle, and Drew Cummings) I guess one last news-worthy event is that we praise God for Rodney and Alena's recent engagement. Rodney proposed to Alena on her birthday, July 4th, at the campout. They are fantastic couple who always put God first in their lives. They, along with Jenna and Zach, are outstanding examples to our youth.
