  • Being a Mother

    My Mother's Day was wonderful.  Big Daddy took us out for a steak lunch at Outback (yummy!) and he and the kids gave me really sweet cards. After we got home, he took the pictures I posted below. I think some of them turned out really well, and the most exciting part is that they were FREE!!  When the kids woke up from their naps, he helped me rearrange a bunch of stuff around the house. Something I've been wanting to do for awhile, and I felt okay asking for his help since it was Mother's Day and all.  He forced me to sit down while he did all the work. It is so nice to have things less cluttered! For dinner, he made his signature blueberry pancakes which we devoured, then we went over to my sister's house for some dessert before the kids went to bed. I really wish I had brought my camera. We got to see our little kitty again and the kiddos had so much fun playing with their cousins.

    It was a wonderful day, and I felt very loved.  I hope all of you mommies had a great Mother's Day too!

    As Chad said, each Mother's Day we have even more blessings! It's wonderful. I feel very blessed to have such a loving husband and my soon-to-be 4 wonderful children. God has been so good to me, and I am so undeserving. I am amazed everyday with just how much He has blessed me.

    Here are some of my favorite verses on mothering:

     9 He settles the barren woman in her home
           as a happy mother of children.
           Praise the LORD. -Psalm 113:9

     3 Children are a gift from the Lord;
          they are a reward from him.
     4 Children born to a young man
          are like arrows in a warrior’s hands.
     5 How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them!
          He will not be put to shame when he confronts his accusers at the city gates. -Psalm 127:3-5

     1 How joyful are those who fear the Lord
          all who follow his ways!
     2 You will enjoy the fruit of your labor.
          How joyful and prosperous you will be!
     3 Your wife will be like a fruitful grapevine,
          flourishing within your home.
       Your children will be like vigorous young olive trees
          as they sit around your table.
     4 That is the Lord’s blessing
          for those who fear him. -Psalm 128:1-4

    48 Then he said to them, “Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me also welcomes my Father who sent me. -Luke 9:48

     42"And whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you, he shall not lose his reward." -Matthew 10:42

    7But we proved to be gentle among you, as a nursing mother tenderly cares for her own children. -1 Thessalonians 2:7

     11 He tends his flock like a shepherd:
           He gathers the lambs in his arms
           and carries them close to his heart;
           he gently leads those that have young. -Isaiah 40:11
