11/23/2007 - Let Go and Let God
Why is it so hard to let go and let God? Jesus said whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do and that includes me, today.
"Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
(Joh 14:12-14)
--Mark 11:12-24--
And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. And he said to it, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." And his disciples heard it.
(Mar 11:13-14)
Jesus cursed the tree even though it was doing exactly what it was designed to do. He cursed the tree for not having fruit on it when He was hungry... even though it was not the season for figs. I see something from this... even though something is in the natural design of God's creation (nature - meaning the fig tree was not bearing figs because it was not the season for figs) it does not mean that it is against God's will to change it.
God (the Father) withered the fig tree to make Jesus' joy complete.
And Peter remembered and said to him, "Rabbi, look! The fig tree that you cursed has withered." And Jesus answered them, "Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
(Mar 11:21-24)
The fig tree withered because Jesus had faith in God. We need just believe that what we say will come to pass and it will be done for us. Whatever we ask of God, believe that we have received it and it will be ours.
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
(Heb 11:1)
The problem with the theology of Christianity is the lack of a true understanding and witness to what faith actually is.
I speak and share from my own experience and perspective. Thank you, God, for continuing to offer complete forgiveness of things that have not been beneficial in my life. I welcome the transformation process and I give you alone the permission to work in and through my life.

You are right about letting go and letting God, so often I let go and then grab back. God is beginning to teach me to wait, but I think I am a slow learner.

The "Let go and let God" saying CAN be dangerous though. God has never called us to be idle. Yes we need to let go of our self will and let God have control of our lives, be we in turn can't sit back and do nothing waiting for Him to do everything for us. When there is an opportunity to help, witness, or any other act of service to our Lord, we can't sit back and say YOU take care of it God. Unfortunately, thats how many few this statement. We are never to get ahead of God's plan yes, but He always opens doors to lead us where He wants us to follow. If we are focusing on Him instead of the task at hand, we can see and know when a door is closed by God. Thanks for dropping by my site. God bless your Sunday!

Thanks for the comment, Grampy. My perspective for the "Let go and let God" in the post was definitely pertaining to the ways that we put God on hold and do not let Him work in our lives. The sanctification process is really up to us... our part in the entire scheme of life is to allow more of God to move and be in our lives.
We tend to have faith for very little and hinder miracles in and around our lives because we fail to "let go and let God" do the wonderful, against nature, acts that He is more than willing to do.
If people are walking in a true understanding of faith, then it will be witnessed by the power with which they live; just as Christ walked on this earth. God wants to adjust our sights, aim us for the goal of walking like Christ, create in us the mind of Christ and get us to the point of allowing the Spirit of Christ to have full reign in our lives.
Our responsibility is to "Let go and Let God" because there is nothing that we can do of our own might that is worth anything to Him. We aim for Less of us and More of Him while we continue to let Him fan the flame that He started inside of us. If we keep looking to Him, meditating on His heart and listening for His guidance, then the "Let go and Let God" phrase doesn't end up being the negative, anti-productive, dangerous phrase that some turn it into. Praise You Jesus!!!
Letting go and letting God is not being lazy, for there also is the obey God factor - when we let Him lead us, and we obey His promptings it is not laziness, just letting God be our efficiency expert.

Grampy and Heather - Thanks for the additional comments; I'm glad we wrote a little more on this subject. I love the term "efficiency expert".
