| | Army Story Time! Warning... morbid!
So I was in the Army about 8 years total. I had a good time but it was
time to hang up the boots. I was getting sent to nasty places a little
too often, and it was just really starting to take its tool on me. I
spent most of my military career in Germany, about 30 miles south of
Frankfurt in a nice sized city know as Darmstadt. There were U.S.
military bases speckled all throughout that area, very handy being in
the middle of Western Europe! Well this story came from another base,
not mine, but it wasn't really all that far away. It wasn't a story
that was passed on from a friend of a friend, this was real news in the
paper and the Armed Forces TV network over there.
Apparently a soldiers wife was having an affair, and got pregnant from
the other guy. You see you can bring your whole family with you to
Germany, wife kids, dogs, so on. While in the Military I saw many good
families broken up by bad moral decisions and the like. So one early
summer day people witnessed the two guys getting in a fight - the
husband walked up to the other guy while he was on a pay phone and
began hitting. The people watched in horror and disbelief - it turns
out that the husband wasn't using his hands to hit the other man... he
was using a small hand axe. It only took a couple of seconds and they
saw the axe wielding husband kicking in an attempt to totally remove
the other guys head. I told
you it was morbid! That's not the end of the story though... he finally
got the head separated from the body, put it in a bag, and brought it
to his wife who was in the hospital. After that he peacefully waited
for the military police to take him away.
I know... sounds like BS... but it happened. Perhaps Curt remembers, we
were stationed in the same area at the same time. I belive this
happened at a post known as Babbenhausen.
EDIT: Got Email confirmation
from Curt. He remembers. Oh and not to worry kids... I haven't, and I'm
not planning on cutting anything off!!! One remembers stories for a
reason - they make a lasting impression, it wouldn't be exciting if I
wrote about going to the dry cleaners to drop off the Tux, and then
decided to take the long way home!
