| | So today the Parents (hers not mine) arrive. Christy's having me go and greet them while she's working, and then she'll meet up with us for diner at Blackbird. Should be nice. It's been on my list of places to go to, so I'm happy! Friday we're going to the Chicago Chop House. One of the best of the remaining old steak houses... they offer a 64oz. Porter House. I don't know anyone who could eat that much steak all at once. That's 4 pounds of steak.
The little basket I put together for them to enjoy at the hotel is really nice. Cheese, crackers, wine, tea, and a delicious smoked pork tenderloin from my local butcher... Paulina Market. I actually know a guy who used to live right across the street from Paulina... he said that he'd be put in to a trance when they'd be smoking meat, which they did twice a day.
Saturday we're having the future in-laws over for diner. About the only part of the menu that is firm is the Basil Lemongrass Sorbet, Cornish Game Hens, and a White Chocolate Creme Brule that I'm going to try out. I love white chocolate. Always have. I think we'll probably do a shrimp cocktail, and most likely something using the purple potatoes I picked up yesterday. We'll see... hopefully I'll actually pay attention to what I'm cooking so that everything turns out right! |
