Some Trivia in Honor of Black History Month:
George Washington Carver (1864-1943) is well known for developing peanut butter but less is known as to how this invention emerged. Peanut production was one of the agricultural techniques introduced in the South as a means for replenishing nitrogen in the soil, which had been greatly depleted by cotton growth. When southern farmers took on the task of growing peanuts, they discovered a limited market for them. So, Carver set out to develop commercial applications for peanuts, and peanut butter, as we know it today, was born!Thank you Mr. Carver! Yay for PB!
