| | I went for a short run this morning to test out my ankle...no problem
at all. When I went down in a heap (after landing on my opponents
foot), I bruised my left butt muscle on the gym floor. I hasn't
bothered me too much, but I could sure feel it as I ran. It
didn't hurt too much and I'm not worried as bruies heal much faster
than sprains. So I'm all ready for a 16 mile run tomorrow.
I've run 20 mile runs the last three weeks and now I'll be tapering
down the distances until the marathon. My volleyball team had its
first game of the season tonight...we won!! I decided to wear a
big, beefy ankle brace just to be on the safe side. It is quite
cumbersome and I'm sure it affects my play, but I don't want to risk
injuring my ankle any further. Sad to say, but I think tonight
was quite a bit more fun than usual because our captain and his wife
weren't there. The team captain is the guy who organizes the team
each year and he tends to pick players that are younger and quite a bit
better than both him and his wife. He a nice enough guy, but he
has a habit of being an irritant to his teammates, the officials and
the opponents. Besides him and his wife, I'm the only returning
player from last year. There was a lot of drama last year, but
I'm hoping things will be calmer this year. I made a tragic
mistake a few weeks ago. In a moment of unclear thinking at the
grocery store, I grabbed a generic brand of moisturizing bar soap
instead of my normal Dove uncented. And to compound the problem,
the soap I got was NOT unscented (which I guess would make it
scented). So now my whole bathroom smells like cheap motel
soap. When I first used the soap, the smell hit me like a freight
train. But now I've become quite accustomed to the smell...a fact
I find a bit frightening.
