Well, after trying out about ten different colors in my bathroom (the one with peach (and maroon) colored tiles and a blue floor), I have decided to paint it the whitest white I could find to match the fixtures.  Here is a 'before' picture:

The only window is frosted and was covered by two layers of dark, maroon colored shower curtains (the curtain over the window is now frosted and between the tub and the rest of the bathroom, it is clear).  The walls above the tiles had red wallpaper, except in the tub where the walls and cieling are painted maroon.  So I was engulfed in a sea of dark maroon every time I took a shower and had to have all the lights in the bathroom on just to be able to find the soap in there.  All the cabinet doors are also painted maroon.  The vanity lights and medicine chest were white plastic trimmed in gold.  It was my least favorite room in the house and my choice of white will certainly make it brighter.  I'm especially looking forward to the white in the tub area...it will brighten my mornings for sure.  I'm also considering white for the back entry.  It retains it's original tongue and groove bead board walls and cieling and I've always been fond of crisp, white bead board...a fondness I no doubt got from my mom who's bathroom is white beadboard and when we lived in Piedmont, our sun porch (which became my younger brother's nursury) was also white bead board.  Speaking of Piedmont, Easter morning reminds me of our childhood tradition which made Easter the second (only to Christmas) most anticipated morning of the year.  The Easter Bunny would leave each of us kids a basket full of candy and green plastic grass outside our bedroom doors.  But the real fun was finding the jelly beans hidden all over the living and dining rooms.  Just like Christmas, we were not allowed to come downstairs until everybody was ready and then when the time came, there would be a frantic dash around the rooms searching for the jelly beans.  Most were found quickly, but there were always those tricky few that would make for nice surprises throughout the day.  And that was it...just lots of candy.  It seems like maybe we had a nice dinner, but no big Easter ham as far as I can remember.  We would also usually dye Easter Eggs.  It has been a rainy week with no end in sight.  I suppose it is good for my flowers.  I think I have enough painting work to do to keep me busy all day if I choose to do that, but I'm open to the possibility of being a bit lazy.

Happy Easter.

I also like a light bathroom and kitchen for that matter. It's all warm colors for me in both bathrooms and the kitchen. Creamy yellows and a deep yellow for the main bathroom. The deep yellow took four or five coats of paint because it was so transparent. argh, the lady in the paint store couldn't believe how much paint I kept buying.

I hope it rains here today.

You can't go wrong with a creamy yellow for bathrooms and kitchens! That is what color I painted those rooms in my last house. And if I were smart, I probably would have just done that in here too...but I just felt like trying some different colors in this house. I just painted a bright blue stripe in the opening seperating the living and dining rooms...the jury is still out on that one.
