My recently stumbled across vegetarian lifestyle faced its biggest challenge today.  It is payday and that means a trip to the bank during my lunch hour, which also means a trip to the Sub Shop a few doors down.  My usual sandwich is a meatball sub and since I'm not a big fan of veggies on my sandwiches, I didn't know if there would be anything on the menu I would like.  I ended up getting a garden burger with cheese, onions and mustard on a wheat roll.  It was yummy and I can only assume by its name that a garden burger doesn't contain much meat.    I have a couple hours before bedtime and I'm debating between doing some more cleaning in my sun room, working on my rearranging office, reading my book or surfing the internet.

That reminds me of when I took my aunt to Togo's in Sacramento. She ordered a meatball sandwich and I just couldn't believe what the meatballs looked like. They were grey, not like meat at all. I didn't say anything, she thought they were delicious. I was lost when I stopped eating meat, I always felt like I was missing something. Then gradually I found all the alternatives. Veggie burgers and bologna and meat balls. There's some really good veggie frozen dinners but they're kind of expensive so I rarely buy them. I don't miss meat at all now. To me it's strange to think of eating an animal but I don't judge anyone else. It's part of our culture and probably always will be.
