| | Hmmm...I can't remember what I did on Christmas Day. I didn't finish installing the under cabinet lights like I had planned. My sister came by around 5:00 and dropped off my presents. She hung around while I opened them. I got a book, a dust buster and a cute little Santa Troll from Estonia:
He is seven inches tall. It has been work as usual this week. We don't get paid holidays, so to get my full forty I worked Tuesday through Saturday. We will be closed tomorrow, so I will have the same work schedule this coming week. My friend who decided to stop taking his medications came down to visit and look for an apartment. He seemed like he was doing really well, so maybe he's still taking them. He came by on Wednesday evening and went home yesterday morning and he was successful in finding a room to rent in a house here in Eugene. He'll be moving back down here soon. It'll be nice to have him back in town. He brought me a Christmas gift...a handmade journal with covers made from Scrabble boards and $200 gift certificate for Scan Design...a store that has been selling good quality Danish Modern furnture in Eugene for many, many years. I do believe that is the most expensive gift anyone has ever got for me! It made me feel very selfish because I'm not sure if I would be willing to do that for someone else. It was especially generous considering he doesn't get very much money for his disability and was homeless just a couple years ago. I went to Bring Recycling last week and took a few pictures. They've been around since the early 1970's selling used house parts and building materials and I've think they've been in the same location all that time. But soon they will be moving into a big, metal warehouse, which will keep the stuff dry, but I think it will lack some of the charm of their present set up:
The picture I took inside the shack that houses all the light fixtures didn't turn out. It has been especially muddy there this winter. I'm glad I have another day off tomorrow since I really did absolutely nothing today. Well, that's not exactly true...I did go for a short run and watched a lot of football. I played volleyball on Thursday for the first time in two weeks! We played for three hours and it felt great. Both my volleyball leagues took breaks for the holidays, so my sickness didn't hurt my teams at all. My wednesday night league starts up again on the 3rd. I still have just a bit of a lingering cough, but it gets a little better every day. And best wishes to all for a happy and healthy 2007! |
